The Beach may refer to:
The Beach is a commercial FM radio station broadcasting to North Suffolk and East Norfolk. It broadcasts from studios on Hollingsworth Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk from a transmitter located nearby at Mobbs Way, Oulton Broad on 103.4 FM and on 97.4FM from a transmitter located at a water tower in Blythburgh, Suffolk. A transmitter is also located at Haven Bridge House in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk which also broadcasts on 97.4 FM, as well as digitally through the Norwich multiplex.
In 1993 and 1994, three RSL licenses in Lowestoft were operated and run by local radio volunteers, including some freelance radio professionals, with proceeds being donated to local charities. The station was called "Lowestoft Town Radio" (LTR-fm). LTR presenters included Martyn Lee, Steve Smart and Matthew Schofield. Following these successful 30 day trial broadcasts, along with similar efforts in Great Yarmouth, The Radio Authority (now OFCOM) created a new license for the area. They granted the license to the group behind the LTR, re-branded as "The Beach".
The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical depiction of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by the Simpson family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield and parodies American culture, society, television, and many aspects of the human condition.
The family was conceived by Groening shortly before a solicitation for a series of animated shorts with the producer James L. Brooks. Groening created a dysfunctional family and named the characters after members of his own family, substituting Bart for his own name. The shorts became a part of The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987. After a three-season run, the sketch was developed into a half-hour prime time show and was an early hit for Fox, becoming the network's first series to land in the Top 30 ratings in a season (1989–90).
Since its debut on December 17, 1989, the series has broadcast 587 episodes. It is currently airing its 27th season. The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program, and in 2009 it surpassed Gunsmoke as the longest-running American scripted primetime television series. The Simpsons Movie, a feature-length film, was released in theaters worldwide on July 27, 2007, and grossed over $527 million. On May 4, 2015, the series was officially renewed for seasons twenty-seven (2015–16) and twenty-eight (2016–17), consisting of 22 episodes each.
Off! is an American hardcore punk supergroup, formed in Los Angeles in 2009.
Off! was formed in Los Angeles, California in late 2009 by Circle Jerks/Black Flag singer Keith Morris, Burning Brides frontman Dimitri Coats, Redd Kross bassist Steven Shane McDonald, and Rocket From The Crypt/Hot Snakes drummer Mario Rubalcaba. The idea to form the band came after Coats had worked as producer on a Circle Jerks album which fell apart. During that time, Coats and Morris had written several songs together which they used to start Off!. The group made its live debut at the 2010 South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas. Off!'s first Los Angeles show featured an original art installation by Raymond Pettibon at a downtown warehouse space.
The first release by Off! is a 7" vinyl EP called 1st EP, which debuted on October 13, 2010. That EP, along with three more EPs, were later released as a four 7" vinyl box set entitled First Four EPs on December 14, 2010. The collection contains sixteen songs and features artwork by Raymond Pettibon.
Environment variables are a set of dynamic named values that can affect the way running processes will behave on a computer.
They are part of the environment in which a process runs. For example, a running process can query the value of the TEMP environment variable to discover a suitable location to store temporary files, or the HOME or USERPROFILE variable to find the directory structure owned by the user running the process.
They were introduced in their modern form in 1979 with Version 7 Unix, so are included in all Unix operating system flavors and variants from that point onward including Linux and OS X. From PC DOS 2.0 in 1982, all succeeding Microsoft operating systems including Microsoft Windows, and OS/2 also have included them as a feature, although with somewhat different syntax, usage and standard variable names.
In all Unix and Unix-like systems, each process has its own separate set of environment variables. By default, when a process is created, it inherits a duplicate environment of its parent process, except for explicit changes made by the parent when it creates the child. At the API level, these changes must be done between running fork
and exec
. Alternatively, from command shells such as bash, a user can change environment variables for a particular command invocation by indirectly invoking it via env
or using the ENVIRONMENT_VARIABLE=VALUE <command>
notation. All Unix operating system flavors, DOS, and Windows have environment variables; however, they do not all use the same variable names. A running program can access the values of environment variables for configuration purposes.
Off is the latest album of Kurdish artist Ciwan Haco. It has been released in April 2006 in Europe. It features 13 songs, including the electro-pop Li hêviya te and several ballads. All songs are mainly sung in the Kurdish language, although a small part of the song "Li hêviya te" features brief French language vocals (though sung by a woman, and not by Ciwan Haco himself).
Who's deprived and depraved?
Who's been carrying the can?
Who's been working till his fingers bleed
Since this planet began?
That's you and me baby
Ain't no different now
Ain't no progress been made
We still get it from the guys who got it
Screwed, hammered, laid
Us honey - the prole tariat
We are the underlings, the vulgar common herd
Who's the guy who gets hit?
Who's got his back to the wall?
Sent to the front line by generals
In well protected halls
I'm dirty, I'm common, I'm prole?
I would take to the streets
But I know where I'm at
I stay in my apartment on the 99th floor
You can't get lower than that
And I'm at the bottom - I'm a prole?
