Ocean Beach is a long stretch of beach running north of Macquarie Heads and Hells Gates on the West Coast of Tasmania. It is close to Strahan and parallel to the Strahan Airport runway. It extends as far north as Trial Harbour and the coast immediately west of Zeehan.
Exposed to the ocean with no landmass at this longitude between it and South America, this beach can be exposed to extreme weather conditions. In serious weather it can have large extended lines of breakers, and a swell at the Cape Sorell Waverider Buoy at up to 20+ metres.
The mist and spray from the surf can at times give the impression of fog.
Whale stranding frequently occurs along this stretch of the West Coast—and can be difficult to remedy due to the isolated location and low population numbers to assist in whale rescue.[1][2]

Ocean Beach may refer to a number of beaches:
Ocean Beach is a tourist attraction located about 5 kilometres (3 mi) South of the town of Denmark in Western Australia.
The beach is part of Ratcliffe Bay and is surrounded to the East by the Nullaki Peninsula and a smaller granite headland, Wilson Head, to the East. Wilson Inlet is contained by a semi-permanent sandbar that forms part of Ocean Beach although a bar channel often exists which moves seasonally along the beach.
The beach is patrolled during the summer months from December to April and a lifeguard is on duty for the Summer Holidays (mid-December to Early February). Swimming between the flags at the base of the Surf Life Saving Club is recommended.
In 1993, four Gray's Beaked Whales or Scamperdown Whales (Mesoplodon grayi) were stranded on the beach, three were eventually returned to sea but the last one died.
Original flying boat alighting area in Bluff Harbour, Bluff, Southland, New Zealand. Controlled by the Bluff Harbour Board, was used by the RNZAF for flying boat operations (until 1966) when patrolling New Zealand's southern sub-Antarctic islands. Short Sunderland and Consolidated Catalina aircraft types were regular visitors.
In the late 1950s, Ansett Australia operated four chartered international flights using Short Sandringham flying boats. A local launch, small jetty and customs terminal was provided and passengers hurried onto buses for the short ride to Invercargill. This was an early attempt to open the southern region to mass tourism.
Eventually the flying boat era was replaced by more efficient land based airliners and the alighting area delisted as an airport.
