Heart (The City Harmonic album)

Heart is the second studio album from Christian rock band The City Harmonic, which was released on September 3, 2013 through Integrity Media, and was produced by the band in association with Jared Fox.

Background

The album, released on September 3, 2013, was the band's first studio album released through the Integrity Media label. The album was produced by The City Harmonic along with Jared Fox, who also worked with them on their debut album.

Music and lyrics

Grace S. Aspinwall of CCM Magazine noted "This folk-infused album has little splashes of bluegrass within it, and it is a joy to hear." At Cross Rhythms, Joanna Costin said the album comes "with lyrics that speak of hope and grace." Ryan Barbee of Jesus Freak Hideout wrote from "Track one to fourteen is a journey of grief, hope, healing, celebration, and salvation." At Indie Vision Music, Jonathan Andre stated the effort is "Full of hope, wonder, encouragement and comfort". Emily Kjonaas of Christian Music Zine wrote "The songs on Heart are slow, melodic pieces, meant to bring the listener in to a time of worship." At Alt Rock Live, Jonathan Faulkner wrote "Musically, Heart picks up where their previous record left off but with several new treats for the listener", and that "lyrically the album gets better."

Heart Hampshire

Heart Hampshire (formerly Ocean FM and Ocean Sound) was a British independent local radio station serving South Hampshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight primarily for Portsmouth, Winchester and Southampton. The station served an area of England with a high proportion of commuters to London and a higher-than-average disposable income from middle-class families and people over 45. Its target age range was 25-45.

History

Ocean Sound's predecessor, Radio Victory provided the first local commercial radio service in the South of England in 1975, with its small transmission area around Portsmouth. The station was disliked by the then regulator and when it Independent Broadcasting Authority re-advertised the Portsmouth licence to include Southampton and Winchester, Victory lost out to a new consortium called Ocean Sound Ltd. Ocean Sound proposed an expanded coverage area taking in Southampton. Radio Victory ceased operations in June 1986, three months earlier than the expiry date of its franchise, with a test transmission informing listeners of the unprecedented situation. Ocean Sound took over programme provision that October from a new purpose-built broadcast unit in a business park at Segensworth West on the western outskirts of Fareham, Hampshire.

Heart (radio network)

Heart is a radio network of 21 adult contemporary local radio stations operated by Global Radio in the United Kingdom, broadcasting a mix of local and networked programming. Eighteen of the Heart stations are owned by Global, while the other three are operated under franchise agreements.

History

Launching

Heart began broadcasting on 6 September 1994, as 100.7 Heart FM being the UK's third Independent Regional Radio station, five days after Century Radio and Jazz FM North West. The first song to be played on 100.7 Heart FM was "Something Got Me Started", by Simply Red. Its original format of "soft adult contemporary" music included artists such as Lionel Richie, Simply Red and Tina Turner. Reflecting this, its early slogan was 100.7 degrees cooler!.

Heart 106.2 began test transmissions in London in August 1995, prior to the station launch on 5 September. The test transmissions included live broadcasts of WPLJ from New York.

The Heart programming format was modified in 1996. The new format saw the "soft" AC music replaced with a generally more neutral Hot AC music playlist. Century 106 in the East Midlands became the third station of the Heart network in 2005 after GCap Media sold Century. Chrysalis' radio holdings were sold to Global Radio in 2007.

Oblivion (metal band)

Oblivion is an American technical death metal band from the Bay Area formed in 2008. They have released one album, one demo and several music videos. Members of Oblivion have previously performed in several notable metal bands such as Antagony, All Shall Perish, Hacksaw to the Throat, Alchemicon, Feast and Fractals. Another notable aspect of Oblivion is the fact that one member has a doctorate degree in music and is a university professor, while another has a doctorate in mathematics. Currently, the band is signed to Unique Leader and will release multiple albums through the label. A reissue of their debut album, "Called to Rise", will be released on October 15, 2013.

History

In 2007, after two decades away from the scene, Bay Area thrash metal veteran Ted O'Neill sought musicians with which to play music. His previous band, Alchemicon, had broken up after appearing on the Metal Blade Records compilation "Complete Death 2." O'Neill found a suitable partner in Joe Ellis, a seasoned session guitarist in the Bay Area metal scene. The duo began playing music together but required an additional component to refine their sound. They sought the services of Nick Vasallo, an award-winning composer and professor of music. Vasallo, who founded Antagony and fronted several other Bay Area bands, was appointed lead vocalist and bassist. The trio began writing songs immediately and recorded at their in-house recording studio (reamping courtesy of Zack Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland, California). Their first released song "Annunaki" went viral with a simultaneous video release that received over 5000 hits in 24 hours. Since their first studio session video they have received 20,000 views in 3 weeks. After their demo CD was released, both John Haag and Joe Ellis were replaced by Luis Martinez and Victor Dods.

The Power of Five

The Power of Five (also known as The Gatekeepers in the US) is a series of five fantasy and suspense novels, written by English author Anthony Horowitz and published between 2005 and 2012. It is an updated re-imagining of Horowitz's Pentagram series, which the author had left unfinished in the 1980s. The series is published in the United Kingdom by Walker Books Ltd and in the United States by Scholastic Press. The novels deal heavily in the occult and examples of things such as human sacrifice and blood rituals are major plot elements, such as in the first book, where the protagonist, Matthew Freeman, is hunted by a Cult who want to conduct a blood sacrifice on him to blast open a portal using a combination of nuclear physics and black magic, to unlock another dimension which is holding a group of ancient evil demons captive.

Oblivion (Power of Five)

Oblivion is the final book in The Power of Five series. It marks a change in the narrative, being set in the future - 2018 is the affirmed setting. It is ten years on from the other four books in the series and the world is in dark times. The Old Ones have started their war and the Five have to find each other again.

This book was started in 2009 and was finished in 2012. This book is unique because it isn't a rewrite of a previous Pentagram novel.

Plot synopsis

After being separated from the world ten years the Gatekeepers finally come back through the mysterious doors. Jamie is the first to appear in St Boltoph's in the north east of England and he arrives in a strange and seemingly hostile village. There is no electricity nor power and the townspeople are weary and hostile. He meets a girl named Holly and a strange man named the Traveller who take him under their wing.

Meanwhile, the executives of Nightrise Corporation are in the ruins of New York attending a business conference named the "Endgame" Conference where, it is said, they will be given their rewards. But these "rewards" are really to become soldiers of the Old Ones. A riot ensures in the United Nations and twenty of the executives are killed. The rest are consigned to training camps in the country to prepare for the final outcome.
