O Holy Night

"O Holy Night" (French: Cantique de Noël) is a well-known Christmas carol composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem "Minuit, chrétiens" (Midnight, Christians) by a wine merchant and poet, Placide Cappeau (1808–1877).

In Roquemaure at the end of the year 1843, the church organ was recently renovated. To celebrate the event, the parish priest asked Cappeau, native from this town, to write a Christmas poem, even though the latter never showed an interest in religion, and Cappeau obliged.

Soon after, Adam wrote the music. The song was premiered in Roquemaure in 1847 by the opera singer Emily Laurey.

Unitarian minister John Sullivan Dwight, editor of Dwight's Journal of Music, created a singing edition based on Cappeau's French text in 1855. In both the French original and in the two familiar English versions of the carol, as well as many other languages, the text reflects on the birth of Jesus and of humanity's redemption.

O Holy Night is the official debut Christmas EP by American child singer Jackie Evancho. The album was released on November 16, 2010, only two months after Evancho rose to prominence as a finalist on the reality TV show America's Got Talent. Evancho was ten years old when this EP was released.

The album was certified platinum in the U.S. and Canada. Its success made Evancho the top-selling debut artist for 2010, the youngest solo artist ever to debut in the top 10, the youngest person to ever have a US Top 3 album and the youngest solo artist ever to go platinum.

Background

The album includes a two-disc set: a CD with four recorded tracks and a DVD with 12 minutes of footage of Evancho's performances and America's Got Talent appearances. It also includes an exclusive interview. It was released on November 16, 2010 and reached rank #1 on Amazon's bestsellers in music during pre-orders on October 19, 2010. Evancho released a music video of her singing "Silent Night". The disc was produced by Marius de Vries in only three days in the studio.

Dygra Films is a computer animation studio located in A Coruña, Spain, founded in 1987 as a graphic design studio. After producing many interactive CD-ROM titles, they began their work on their first feature-length CG film The Living Forest in 1997 and established the name Dygra Films in 2000.

They have also released computer-animated short films: Taxia, and a trilogy of Mosquis films for Manos Unidas, a charitable organization in Spain.
