OTC (band)

OTC (originally Groupe Doula Georges) was one of the first bands to emerge from the early days of the Opika label in what was then called Belgian Congo, now the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was the first band to include Joseph Kabasele, later to be popularly known as Le Grand Kallé.

Around 1950 Joseph Kabasele joined with two of the session guitarists at Opika records, Georges Doula and Albert Yamba-Yamba, to form a combo called Groupe Doula Georges. In 1951 Doula and his band starred in a publicity film for the radio station Voix de la Concorde, which operated under the call letters "OTC." To capitalize on the notoriety gained from the film, the band chose to rename themselves OTC.

+/-, or Plus/Minus, is an American indietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.

!!! is a dance-punk band that formed in Sacramento, California, in 1996 by lead singer Nic Offer. Its name is most commonly pronounced "Chk Chk Chk" ([/tʃk.tʃk.tʃk/]). Members of !!! came from other local bands such as The Yah Mos, Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. They are currently based in New York City, Sacramento, and Portland, Oregon. The band's sixth full-length album, As If, was released in October 2015.

Background and history

!!! is an American band formed in the summer of 1995 by the merger of part of the group Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. After a successful joint tour, these two teams decided to mix the disco-funk with more aggressive sounds and integrate the hardcore singer Nic Offer from the The Yah Mos. The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which the clicking sounds of the Bushmens' Khoisan language were represented as "!". However, as the bandmembers themselves say, !!! is pronounced by repeating thrice any monosyllabic sound. "Chk Chk Chk" is the most common pronunciation, which the URL of their official website and the title of their Myspace page suggest is the preferred pronunciation.

Rockford-Montgomery Labs, Inc. is a distribution and marketing company based in Athens, Georgia. The company has created a line of over the counter pharmaceutical products under its 360 OTC brand. As of 2010 the product is no longer sold.

Rockford-Montgomery Labs, Inc. distributes the 360 OTC (over-the-counter) branded line of pharmaceutical products. Its product line consists of 360 OTC Extra Strength Pain Relief and 360 OTC Ignite Maximum Strength, an alertness-aid. The 360 OTC Extra Strength Pain Relief and 360 OTC Ignite Maximum Strength are currently available in CVS/pharmacy, Walgreens and Meijer retail stores.

On February 18, 2007, Rockford-Montgomery Labs launched the first-ever SKYSCREEN Airship blimp with a 30 ft x 70 ft full-motion LED display.

In spring 2007, Rockford-Montgomery Labs, Inc. was the primary sponsor of the #36 Bill Davis Racing Toyota driven by Jeremy Mayfield in NASCAR's NEXTEL Cup Series.

360 OTC was the official sponsor of World Wrestling Entertainment's WrestleMania 23. However, WWE alleged in a lawsuit that this sponsorship went unpaid as well.

Ornithine transcarbamylase

Ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC) (also called ornithine carbamoyltransferase) is an enzyme that catalyzes the reaction between carbamoyl phosphate (CP) and ornithine (Orn) to form citrulline (Cit) and phosphate (P_i). In plants and microbes, OTC is involved in arginine (Arg) biosynthesis, whereas in mammals it is located in the mitochondria and is part of the urea cycle.

Structure

OTC is a trimer. The monomer unit has a CP-binding domain and an amino acid-binding domain. Each of the two discrete substrate-binding domains (SBDs) have an α/β topology with a central β-pleated sheet embedded in flanking α-helices.

The active sites are located at the interface between the protein monomers.

The gene is located on the short arm of chromosome X (Xp21.1). The gene is located in the Watson (plus) strand and is 68,968 bases in length. The encoded protein is 354 amino acids long with a predicted molecular weight of 39.935 kiloDaltons. The protein is located in the mitochondrial matrix.
