La Source is the French to mean The Source. It may also refer to:
La Source is a ballet made on New York City Ballet by its founding balletmaster (and co-founder) George Balanchine. The premiere took place on November 23, 1968, at the New York State Theater, Lincoln Center.
Balanchine's had previously made a pas de deux to music from Léo Delibes' Sylvia in 1950; he expanded this into a divertissement in 1965. The final version uses music from Delibes' ballets La source and Sylvia and choreography from the earlier pas de deux and divertissement.
"La source" ("The Spring") was the French entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1968, performed in French by Isabelle Aubret. This was Aubret's second appearance on the Eurovision stage, in 1962 she had won the Contest with "Un premier amour". In turn, one of the lyricists of "La source", Guy Bonnet, would return to the Contest as an artist in 1970 and 1983, singing "Marie-Blanche" and "Vivre" respectively.
"La source" was performed tenth on the night, following Finland's Kristina Hautala with "Kun kello käy" and preceding Italy's Sergio Endrigo with "Marianne". At the close of voting, it had received 20 points, placing 3rd in a field of 17.
The song deals - unusually for songs at the time, especially in the Contest - with the topic of rape, with Aubret describing such an event in some detail. Aubret also recorded the song in German, then under the title "Such' mich dort, wo die Sonne scheint".
It was succeeded as French representative at the 1969 Contest by Frida Boccara with "Un jour, un enfant".
Nâdiya (born Nadia Zighem on June 19, 1973) is a French R&B singer.
Nâdiya was born in the city of Tours, France. Her family comes from the region of Mostaganem, in the north of Algeria. She is the youngest in a family of 8 children. Her brothers are named Kader Touati, Baklavah Waheb, and her sisters Malika, Sidartha and Karla. Her father Abdul Raheem worked as a laborer, and her mother Yamina worked as a nurse. At school she displayed a talent for athletics, and gravitated towards the sport-studies section. In 1989, she won the title of Junior Champion of France's 800 meters. Her brother, Kader Zighem is world champion of French boxing.
She performed a duo with Stomy Bugsy in 2001 under the title "Aucun Dieu ne pourra me pardonner" (No God Will Ever Forgive Me). The single "J'ai confiance en toi" (I Trust You), released in February 2001, became the first single that charted in the French Singles Chart, peaked at #38 in France and stayed in the chart for 13 weeks. The second single slated from the album did perform better than the first one. "Chaque fois" (Every Time) was released in August 2001 and peaked at #27 in the French Top 100 Singles, remaining in the chart for 18 weeks, five more than the first single. After the success of both singles, Nâdiya recorded a full studio album that became "Changer les choses" (Changing the Things). Though the singles became reasonable hits, the album wasn't very popular in France, not charting at all in the French Top 200 Albums. She was nominated for the Victoires de la musique in 2002.
Nâdiya is the third studio album from French R&B singer Nâdiya. The album was released on June 5, 2006 in France. Also, a DVD with a runtime of 26 minutes was released with it containing interviews and a "The Making of The Album" documentary.
The lead single from the album, "Tous ces mots" ("All These Words"), peaked at number 2 in the French singles chart. The song was released in February 2006 and features Smartzee, who is also featured in her 2004 single "Et c'est parti..." ("Here We Go"). The second single, "Roc" ("Rock"), was released on June 19 in France, also entering and peaking the French Singles Top 100 at number 2 and stayed there for four consecutive weeks. It became her longest running single in the top ten, being 11 weeks in the top 10 (as well as in the top 5). "Amies-ennemies" was chosen to be the third single from the album and debuted at number four in France. The singles were less successful in Switzerland, where they all were released too. They all managed to peak within the top 40, but none of them charted in the top 20.
