Nottingham Forest Football Club is an football club in Nottinghamshire, England, which plays in the Football League Championship, the second tier of English football. The club, often referred to as Forest, have played home matches at the City Ground, West Bridgford, since 1898.

Founded in 1865, Forest were founder members of the Football Alliance in 1889 and joined the Football League in 1892. Forest won the FA Cup in 1898 and 1959. Their most successful period was under the management of Brian Clough between 1975 and 1993, winning the League, back to back European Cups, four League Cups and two Full Members Cups. The club has been outside the Premier League since 1999.

History

Early years (1865–1975)

Nottingham Forest F.C. was founded in 1865 by a group of Bandy and Shinty players, as Nottingham Forest Football and Bandy Club shortly after their neighbours Notts County, thought to be the world's oldest surviving professional association football club, in 1862. They joined the Football Alliance in 1889 and won the competition in 1892. They then entered to The Football League. In 1890, Forest moved to the Town Ground, playing in the first ever match to use goal nets.

Forest F.C.

Forest F.C. is a football club based in Horsham, England. They were established in 1958 and joined the Sussex County League in 1988. For the 2012-13 season, they were due to be members of the Sussex County League Division Three but withdrew from the league in June 2012.

History

The club was founded in 1958 under the name Forest Old Boys, being originally for former pupils of Forest Boys' School in Comptons Lane, Horsham. Matches were played at the school playing fields and the club progressed through the Horsham League and Crawley & District League into the now-defunct Southern Counties Combination.

1987-88 was a turning point for the club. A move from Forest School to the better facilities at Roffey Social & Sports Club in Spooners Road meant Forest were eligible for promotion to the County League.

During their one season in the Mid Sussex League, the first-team won both the Premier Division title and the Sussex Intermediate Cup.

Forest's 20 seasons in the County League have produced many ups and downs, but the club has always remained in Division Three. The current committee has major plans to upgrade the ground with new fencing, a training area and floodlights. Improved guard rails and hard-standing areas were installed in the summer of 2001.

Hawkwind videography

The British space rock group Hawkwind have been active since 1969, but their earliest video release is Night Of The Hawk from their Earth Ritual Tour recorded at Ipswich on 9 March 1984. Since then, there have been numerous video releases covering the evolution of the band; some are professional broadcast shoots, others commercial, and a few are amateur.

There have also been some live video shoots of the band during the 1970s, although none have seen a commercial release. These include an early 12 April 1970 The Roundhouse, London performance and a Hawklords performance at Brunel University, Uxbridge on 24 November 1978.

The Hawkestra event, a reunion featuring appearances from all past and present members on 21 October 2000 at the Brixton Academy, was professionally filmed but disputes between band members would indicate any forthcoming release unlikely.

Nottingham (European Parliament constituency)

Prior to its uniform adoption of proportional representation in 1999, the United Kingdom used first-past-the-post for the European elections in England, Scotland and Wales. The European Parliament constituencies used under that system were smaller than the later regional constituencies and only had one Member of the European Parliament each of which the constituency of Nottingham was one.

When it was created in England in 1979, it consisted of the Westminster Parliament constituencies of Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Beeston, Mansfield, Nottingham East, Nottingham North, Nottingham West, although this may not have been true for the whole of its existence.
