"Nothing" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Dwight Yoakam. It was released in October 1995 as the first single from the album Gone. The song reached #20 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. The song was written by Yoakam and Kostas.

Nothing (band)

Nothing is an American rock band that formed in 2011. The band signed to Relapse Records and released its debut album Guilty of Everything in March 2014. The band are currently recording their follow up LP which is set to be released in 2016.

History

Nothing founder Domenic Palermo was previously a member of the hardcore punk band Horror Show. The short-lived band only released a pair of EPs through Jacob Bannon of Converge's Deathwish Inc. during its existence. Horror Show was put on hold when Palermo stabbed another man during a fight and spent two years in jail for aggravated assault and attempted murder. About this period in his life, Palermo said: "It was kind of a violent time. We were going to shows and kind of, like, fucking shit up for the whole [hardcore] scene." He also performed in XO Skeletons, which featured Wesley Eisold (Give Up the Ghost, Cold Cave).

Following his stint in jail and performing in punk bands, Palermo spent about four years soul searching. He said: "I didn't know what else to do with my life, what would make me want to wake up every day. I really struggled with that for like four years and, not to sound dramatic or anything, but I thought about blowing my brains out every day." Palermo began making music again and released a demo titled Poshlost under the name "Nothing" in 2011. Nothing went through several line up changes over the next few years and also released the EPs Suns and Lovers and Downward Years to Come.

Theodore was a rival with Paschal for Pope following the death of Pope Conon (21 September 687), and thus is considered an antipope of the Roman Catholic Church.

Biography

Prior to the disputed election, Theodore was an archpriest. According to the Liber Pontificalis partisans of Theodore and Paschal seized different parts of the Lateran, and as each were unwilling to give way to the other they were locked in combat for control of the entire basilica. Meanwhile, representatives of the garrison, the majority of the clergy and the citizens met in the imperial palace and eventually elected Sergius, a priest of the church of Santa Susanna as Conon's successor. Having thus decided on Sergius, they brought him to the Lateran and forced their way in. Theodore immediately conceded the office, and abased himself to Sergius.

Paschal remained unconvinced, and while pretending to accept Sergius, sent messengers to the exarch of Ravenna John Platyn promising gold in exchange for military support. The exarch arrived, demanded the gold, and looted Old St. Peter's Basilica, but departed after Sergius I's consecration (15 December 687).

Theodore (brother of Heraclius)

Theodore (Latin: Theodorus, Greek: Θεόδωρος; fl. c. 610 – 636) was the brother (or half-brother) of the Byzantine emperor Heraclius (r. 610–641), a curopalates and leading general in Heraclius' wars against the Persians and against the Arab invasions.

Life

He was the son of the general and exarch of Africa Heraclius the Elder, and is usually regarded as the brother (although John of Nikiu suggests him to be the half-brother) of Heraclius. Soon after Heraclius' overthrow of the emperor Phocas (r. 602–610), Theodore was appointed to the crucial post of curopalates, controlling the palace administration, which at the time was ranked second in importance only to the imperial office itself.

In 612, after the deposition and imprisonment of the magister militum per Orientem Priscus, command of his troops was assumed by Theodore and Philippicus. In late 613, Theodore accompanied his brother in a campaign against the Persians near Antioch. Although initially successful, the Byzantines were defeated and most of Cilicia conquered by the Persians.
