78 Saab were a rock band from Australia that consisted of Ben Nash (vocals and guitar), Jake Andrews (guitar and vocals), Garth Tregillgas (bass and vocals) and Nicholai Danko (drums and percussion). The band has stated that it was influenced by acts such as the Rolling Stones, R.E.M. and The Church. After forming in Canberra, Australia, during the summer of 1995-6, they relocated to Sydney in February 1997.
78 Saab formed at the Australian National University, with the original members being Nash, Tregillgas, Darren Smith and Christovac Thompson. For the purpose of attaining live performance experience, they entered the Australian National Campus Band Competition in 1996, with the band name chosen spontaneously in order to complete the entry form. In a 2007 interview, Nash explained the inspiration for the "last minute" title:
At the time, the major sponsor of the competition was Troy Horse, a Sydney based rehearsal studio that also operated a record label. The competition's first prize included an EP to be recorded and released by Troy Horse and a tour of Australian university campuses. 78 Saab won the competition and as a result recorded their debut EP, Eastwards By Removal at Troy Horse's studio in Alexandria, Sydney.
"Nothing as It Seems" is a song by the American rock band Pearl Jam. Written by bassist Jeff Ament, "Nothing as It Seems" was released on April 25, 2000 as the first single from the band's sixth studio album, Binaural (2000). The song peaked at number three on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The song also appears on Pearl Jam's 2004 greatest hits album, rearviewmirror (Greatest Hits 1991–2003).
"Nothing as It Seems" was written by bassist Jeff Ament. Ament plays upright bass on the song giving it a very atmospheric feel. Guitarist Mike McCready used a Fender Pedal for the song which provided the song with its distorted sounds, which McCready described as sounding "like a plane going down." The song was recorded using binaural recording techniques, and was produced by Tchad Blake. Ament on the song:
Jeff Ament's original demo of "Nothing as It Seems" is a track on disc 2 of Pearl Jam's soundtrack to their documentary "Pearl Jam Twenty" directed by Cameron Crowe.
"Nothing As It Seems" is the sixteenth episode of the fourth season of the Fox science-fiction drama television series Fringe, and the series' 81st episode overall. The case of the episode is a parallel observation to the events of the first season's "The Transformation".
It was co-written by Jeff Pinkner and Akiva Goldsman, while Frederick E. O. Toye directed.
The Fringe team is alerted to a case involving a passenger, Marshall Bowman (Neal Huff), on a plane that had transformed into a strange beast, due to a "designer virus" with which he had been injected. Peter immediately recognizes this as a case from his original timeline ("The Transformation") but in this timeline, Bowman never fully transformed on the plane, allowing it to land safely. However, while under investigation by the TSA, Bowman transformed and attacked the agents before dying.
Meanwhile, Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv), having accepted the replacement of her memories with those from Peter Bishop's (Joshua Jackson) original timeline, is determined to be unfit for field work because she can't remember her "real" past, forgetting even family details. Lincoln Lee (Seth Gabel) is put in charge of the Fringe team, though he is upset that Peter has won Olivia's heart over himself.
Nothing As It Seems was the debut studio album from the Canadian band Wave. In 2001 a song hit radio airwaves that immediately seemed to define that summer. "California" introduced the world to Wave whose gold debut album, Nothing As It Seems, eventually spawned three Top 40 hits and two Top 5 videos. Wave's debut album, Nothing as it Seems, was recorded partly in Los Angeles and partly in Toronto. There were plenty of well-known artists called in to lend a helping hand on the album, like guitarists John Pierce and Tim Pierce, drummer Vinny Colaiuta, keyboardist Justin Gray, and producers Ben Dunk and Rick Neigher. Some of the songs Wave has recorded include "With the Stars," "I'd Give Anything," "Until the Record Breaks," "Daydream," "Don't Leave," and "California."
don't feel like home, he's a little out...
and all these words elope, it's nothing like your poem
putting in, inputting in, don't feel like methadone
a scratching voice all alone, there's nothing like your baritone
it's nothing as it seems, the little that he needs, it's home
the little that he sees, is nothing he concedes, it's home
one uninvited chromosome, a blanket like the ozone
it's nothing as it seems, all that he needs, it's home
the little that he frees, is nothing he believes
saving up a sunny day, something maybe two tone
anything of his own, a chip off the cornerstone
who's kidding, rainy day
a one way ticket headstone
occupations overthrown, a whisper through a megaphone
it's nothing as it seems, the little that he needs, it's home
the little that he sees, is nothing he concedes, it's home
and all that he frees, a little bittersweet, it's home
