Nostalgia

Nostalgia is a sentimentality for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations. The word nostalgia is a learned formation of a Greek compound, consisting of νόστος (nóstos), meaning "homecoming", a Homeric word, and ἄλγος (álgos), meaning "pain, ache", and was coined by a 17th-century medical student to describe the anxieties displayed by Swiss mercenaries fighting away from home. Described as a medical condition—a form of melancholy—in the Early Modern period, it became an important trope in Romanticism.

Nostalgia can refer to a general interest in the past, its personalities, and events, especially the "good old days" from one's earlier life.

The scientific literature on nostalgia usually refers to nostalgia regarding the personal life and has mainly studied the effects of nostalgia induced during the studies.Smell and touch are strong evokers of nostalgia due to the processing of these stimuli first passing through the amygdala, the emotional seat of the brain. These recollections of one's past are usually important events, people one cares about, and places where one has spent time. Music and weather can also be strong triggers of nostalgia. Nostalgic preferences, the belief that the past was better than is the present, has been linked to biases in memory.

Nostalgic (song)

"Nostalgic" is a song by American recording artist Kelly Clarkson from her seventh studio album, Piece by Piece (2015). Produced by former DC Talk member Jason Halbert, the song was written by artists who also have been members of various rock bands: Semi Precious Weapons lead singer Justin Tranter, former Cobra Starship lead guitarist Ryland Blackinton, Young Love lead singer Dan Keyes, and Oliver duo member Vaughn Oliver. An synth electro rock song, it sings of remembering nostalgia of a failed relationship, which was mainly based on Tranter's and Keyes's real life experiences. The record mainly features synthesizer sounds that were prominently popular during the 1980s as well as string arrangements by Joseph Trapanese and guitars by Tim Pierce. Upon the release of Piece by Piece, "Nostalgic" has received a very positive response from music critics, who lauded the track as one of the album's highlights and complimented the 80s nostalgia evoked from the song.

Taking One for the Team

Taking One for the Team is the fifth studio album by French-Canadian pop punk band Simple Plan. It is scheduled for release on February 19, 2016 through Atlantic Records and represents their first full-length record in nearly five years. Following the release of three buzz singles in mid 2015, the band released "I Don't Wanna Go to Bed" featuring American rapper Nelly as the official lead single for the album on October 16, 2015.

"I Don't Wanna Go to Bed" was released October 16, 2015 as the album's official lead single. The song features pop and funk influences in a stylistic departure from the pop punk and pop rock of the group's earlier work. A Baywatch-inspired music video premiered October 15, 2015 – a day before the song's digital release. It has since peaked outside the top 50 on the Canadian Hot 100 at number 54.

"Opinion Overload" is the second single from the album Taking One for the Team. It was released on 5 February 2016. The single released two weeks before the album released. This song featured pop punk and alternative rock style.
