Norway Pavilion at Epcot

The Norway Pavilion is a Norway-themed pavilion that is part of the World Showcase, within Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Its location is between the Mexican and Chinese Pavilions.

Layout

The 58,000-square-foot (5,400 m²) Norway Pavilion is designed to look like a Norwegian village. The village includes a detailed Stave church, and the exterior of its main table-service restaurant, Restaurant Akershus, resembles its namesake in Oslo. The exhibit showcases 4 styles of Norwegian architecture: Setesdal-style, Bergen-style, Oslo-style and Ålesund-style.

Much of the pavilion is taken up by interconnected shops. These shops are decorated with large wooden trolls and sell assorted Norwegian goods, including clothing, candy, and statuettes of Norse gods and trolls. The courtyard of the pavilion contains the entrance to Maelstrom, a boat ride into Norway's past and present. Kringla Bakeri og Kafé is a bakery, featuring assorted Norwegian pastries, such as cream horns and open-faced salmon sandwiches. The courtyard contains the entrance to Restaurant Akershus, featuring a hot and cold buffet and "Princess Storybook Dining."

Norway (song)

"Norway" is a song by American dream pop band Beach House, from their third studio album, Teen Dream. The song was released on January 18, 2010, with "Baby" as its B-side. The song was released as a free download on the band's site on November 17, 2009, before its commercial release.

Reception

"Norway" received very positive reviews from contemporary music critics. The song was chosen upon release as Pitchfork Media's "Best New Track". Aaron Leitko stated that, "'Norway', the lead track from Teen Dream, the duo's Sub Pop debut, raises the temperature a few degrees. A percussive intro yields to an explosion of twinkling guitars and a chorus of woozy backing vocals. The core elements of Beach House's sound-- the drum machine, the thrift store keyboards-- are still present; they're just a few ticks faster. This makes a big difference. As it turns out, Beach House goes from dour to exuberant in just a few BPM." Leitko continues by saying, "Legrand, whose vocals have been saddled with Nico comparisons, can finally breathe a sigh of relief, too. The 1960s chanteuse's shadow is nowhere to be found here. 'You let us in the wooden house/ To share in all the wealth,' sings Legrand over a carsick slide guitar riff. No, 'Norway' is radiant with the sunshiny 70s pop vibes. Norway, Indiana

Norway is a census-designated place (CDP) in White County, Indiana, United States. The population was 437 at the 2000 census.

History

Norway was originally called Mt. Walleston, and under the latter name was laid out in 1845. A large share of the early settlers being natives of Norway caused the present name to be selected.

Geography

Norway is located at 40°46′55″N 86°46′4″W / 40.78194°N 86.76778°W / 40.78194; -86.76778 (40.781877, -86.767850).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²), of which 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km²) (6.32%) is water.

Norway is on Tippecanoe River just below the Norway Dam. The dam holds Lake Shafer, the home of Indiana Beach, an amusement park and campground. Norway's Southern boundary is also the Northern boundary of Monticello, the more populated county seat and just west of Norway there is the golf course and hotel resort, Pine View.

Despite the small area and population, the central location of Norway and the convenience of the Norway Bridge river crossing (connecting the more populated West Shafer and East Shafer Drives) have allowed for the continued presence and success of several restaurants and other small businesses.

4C-T-2

2,5-Dimethoxy-4-ethylthio-α-ethylphenethylamine (4C-T-2) is a synthetic drug of the phenethylamine chemical class. It is the α-ethylated analogue of 2C-T-2.

The activity of 4C-T-2 at these sites has not been assayed, with the exception of the 5-HT_2A and 5-HT_2C receptors where it acts as a partial agonist.

2C-T-17

2C-T-17 or 2,5-dimethoxy-4-(β-secbutylthio)phenethylamine is a psychedelic phenethylamine of the 2C family. It was presumably first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin and reported in his book PiHKAL (Phenethylamines i Have Known And Loved).

Chemistry

2C-T-17 is the 2 carbon homologue of Aleph-17, which has never been synthesized. The full chemical name is 2-[4-(2-butyl thio)-2,5-dimethoxy phenyl]ethanamine. The drug has structural properties similar to drugs in the 2C-T series, with the most closely related compounds being 2C-T-7 and 2C-T-8.

General information

The dosage range of 2C-T-17 is typically 60-100 mg and its duration is approximately 10–15 hours according to Shulgin. 2C-T-17 has highly psychedelic effects on thinking, but produces few to no visuals.

Pharmacology

The mechanism that produces 2C-T-17's hallucinogenic and entheogenic effects has not been specifically established, however it is most likely to result from action as a 5-HT_2A serotonin receptor agonist in the brain, a mechanism of action shared by all of the hallucinogenic tryptamines and phenethylamines for which the mechanism of action is known.

IBM C2T

C2T (an abbreviatrion for Cable Chaining Technology) is an IBM technology for KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) chaining.

C2T, built into some of the IBM's xSeries and Netfinity models, allows daisy-chaining up to forty-two compatible servers in a single rack. Servers are daisy-chained using a special purpose cable which is included with new servers. The final server in the stack is connected to a monitor/keyboard/mouse or a KVM switch using a C2T breakout cable, which provides PS/2 and VGA connectors. The breakout cable was once very expensive to purchase new, but are now obtainable for less than $30 USD online.

C2T works thanks to a chip in each server that emulates a KVM switch. To take control of a certain xSeries server in the rack, user needs to press Num Lock twice, "nn" (where "nn" is the number of the server) and then press Enter, or could also manually press the button on the front of the desired xSeries server. The theory behind C2T is to reduce clutter and save money as no KVM switch is required.
