North Muskegon, Michigan

North Muskegon is a city in Muskegon County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,786 at the 2010 census.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.10 square miles (10.62 km²), of which 1.76 square miles (4.56 km²) is land and 2.34 square miles (6.06 km²) is water.

As of the census of 2010, there were 3,786 people, 1,621 households, and 1,069 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,151.1 inhabitants per square mile (830.5/km²). There were 1,834 housing units at an average density of 1,042.0 per square mile (402.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.6% White, 2.1% African American, 0.6% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.2% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.4% of the population.

There were 1,621 households of which 29.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.9% were married couples living together, 11.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.7% had a male householder with no wife present, and 34.1% were non-families. 30.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 2.84.
