North Carolina (i/ˌnɔːrθ kærəˈlaɪnə/) is a state in the southeastern region of the United States. The state borders South Carolina and Georgia to the south, Tennessee to the west, Virginia to the north, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. North Carolina is the 28th most extensive and the 9th most populous of the 50 United States. North Carolina is known as the Tar Heel State and the Old North State.
North Carolina is composed of 100 counties. Its two largest metropolitan areas are among the top ten fastest-growing in the country: its capital, Raleigh, and its largest city, Charlotte. In the past five decades, North Carolina's economy has undergone a transition from reliance upon tobacco, textiles, and furniture-making to a more diversified economy with engineering, energy, biotechnology, and finance sectors.
North Carolina has a wide range of elevations, from sea level on the coast to 6,684 feet (2,037 m) at Mount Mitchell, the highest point in North America east of the Mississippi River. The climate of the coastal plains is strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the state falls in the humid subtropical climate zone. More than 300 miles (500 km) from the coast, the western, mountainous part of the state has a subtropical highland climate.

North Carolina wine refers to wine made from grapes grown in the U.S. state of North Carolina. Wine has been produced in the area since the early days of European colonization in the 17th century. Wine growers in North Carolina were the first to cultivate a native American grape variety, the Scuppernong, which produces a sweet wine, examples of which are still being made in the state. Most wine produced in North Carolina since the year 2000 is made from Vitis vinifera grape varieties, although French hybrid and Vitis labrusca varieties remain common.
North Carolina ranks tenth in both grape and wine production in the United States. The state's wine industry continues to expand, and today is one of the United States’ five most visited state destinations for wine and culinary tourism. In 2007, North Carolina contained 55 wineries and 350 vineyards. By 2011, this had grown to more than 100 wineries and more than 400 vineyards.
North Carolina Highway 102 (NC 102) is a 22.3-mile-long (35.9 km) state highway running from NC 903 near Ayden to U.S. Highway 17 (US 17) between Vanceboro and Chocowinity. Most of the route is rural; the only community it serves is Adyen.
NC 102 appeared on the first state highway map in 1924, running from Snow Hill to Goldsboro. At its peak, the road stretched from US 17 at its current eastern terminus to US 301 north of Fayetteville. The routing from Interstate 95 (I-95) to Snow Hill was renumbered as US 13 in 1977, and the segment of the route from its current western terminus to Snow Hill was replaced by an extension of NC 903.
NC 102 begins at NC 903 west of Ayden. It then heads east until it reaches Ayden. After about two and a half miles (4.2 km), NC 102 enters Ayden, and has an intersection with NC 11. NC 102 continues through Ayden along 3rd Street, and in the heart of Ayden crosses a CSX rail line. From there NC 102 then continues east out of Ayden still along 3rd Street. After leaving Ayden, NC 102 enters a very rural area with many farms and small forests. About a mile (1.2 km) further east NC 102 has a junction with Ayden Golf Club Road. As NC 102 continues to the east it crosses Fork Swamp and has a junction with County Home Road (Secondary Road 1725, or SR 1725).
Route 102 or Highway 102 can refer to multiple roads:
Highway 102 (AR 102, Ark. 102, Hwy. 102) is an east–west state highway in Benton County. The route of 9.21 miles (14.82 km) runs from Highway 43 near Maysville east through Centerton and Bentonville to Interstate 49/US Route 71 (I-49/US 71).
Its western terminus is at an intersection with Highway 43 southeast of Maysville. Towns along this route include Bentonville, Centerton and Decatur, where it has a short concurrency with Highway 59. Its eastern terminus is in Bentonville, Arkansas at an intersection with Interstate 49 and U.S. Route 71.
Originally 102's east terminus was at U.S. 71 (now Highway 72) north of Centerton, but was extended to the intersection of Highway 94 and U.S. Route 62 (now U.S. Route 62 Business) in Rogers. After the opening of Interstate 49 the section east of 49 was replaced by US 62.
The entire route is in Benton County.
Highway 102 Business (AR 102B, Ark. 102B, and Hwy. 102B) is a business route of 1.78 miles (2.86 km) in Centerton. The route's southern terminus is at Highway 102 (Centerton Blvd) with its northern terminus at Highway 72 (SW 2nd St) southeast of Hiwasse.
Cootes Drive, formerly known as the Dundas Diversion, is a city street in Hamilton, Ontario. The route connects York Boulevard and King Street in Dundas with Highway 2 and Highway 8 to the southeast, and is considered the first divided highway in Canada.
Cootes Drive travels from the former town Dundas, where it feeds into King Street at York Road. It travels through Cootes Paradise and past McMaster University to Main Street West (former Highway 2 and Highway 8)
There is a shared pedestrian and bicycle path along its length, and GO Transit operate two regional coach routes from their McMaster University GO Bus Terminal on the east side of Cootes Drive, at the edge of the university’s campus.
The Dundas Diversion was the first divided dual-carriageway road built in Canada; completed in 1936, it predates the nearby Queen Elizabeth Way, which was still under construction at the time, with the name of ‘Middle Road’.
Cootes Drive is now signed as Hamilton Road 8. It was originally designated 8D (indicating that it was a diversion of Highway 8), then changed to the designation of Highway 102 in 1947, before being turned back to local authorities in 1964. The Highway 102 designation has since been reused on a different highway near Thunder Bay.
im a mile and a half off of the tracks
in Raleigh, North Carolina
with my
foot all jammed up from driving
14 hours
and my body cant sit upright
hanging around watching the t.v. on mute
listening to all of my money making peers
yeah and its
hard not to go to that
place in my head
thatll stop me from ever leaving this room
yeah and its all so confusing
because im all worked up
because all my thoughts are tangled into one
panicked line of white noise
drown out the voices
drown out the noise
drown out the bitterness yeah that I have stored
drown out my wanting
drown out the fear
you know that everything ive worked for
is just going to
disappear
because ever since I left you
ive got no one to call
ive got nothing to do but sit around and think about
how I could have not hurt you
I am so sick of feeling so sorry for myself you know I
go from I go from insanely happy
to no I dont want to be around anybody else
im not sure if you know exactly how you feel about me
let me tell you how you
feel about me
drown out the voices
drown out the noise
drown out the bitterness yeah that I have stored
drown out my wanting
drown out the fear
you know that everything ive worked for
is just going
disappear
so I pretend im connected
I pretend I can feel
I pretend I care about what you think
cause intensity
its never really
been a problem for me
so im sorry if I scared you
I just want to be loved...
drown out the voices
drown out the noise
drown out the bitterness that I have stored
drown out my wanting
drown out the fear
you know that everything ive worked for
