Henri Ducard

Henri Ducard is a fictional character in the Batman comic book universe. Created by Sam Hamm, Henri Ducard's first appearance was in Detective Comics #599 (April 1989), part of the "Blind Justice" story arc that Hamm, the screenwriter of the 1989 Batman film, was asked to guest-write for Detective Comics by Batman editor Denny O'Neil. The character (amalgamated with Ra's al Ghul) appeared in the film Batman Begins portrayed by Liam Neeson.

Fictional character biography

In the comics, Bruce Wayne approaches Henri Ducard for training in Paris, during his early days traveling the world. Ducard, a knowledgeable detective with excellent man-hunting skills, imparts much of his knowledge to the young, keen Bruce.

Later in the series, it is revealed that Ducard is a mercenary, working for criminals as often as he does the law. He deduces Batman's secret identity, but keeps it to himself, reasoning that Batman is a useful public distraction from the large-scale crimes perpetrated by Ducard and his clients.

Nobody (Wonder Girls song)

Nobody is a song performed by South Korean girl group Wonder Girls, from their first EP, The Wonder Years: Trilogy (2008). It was released as a digital download single on September 22, 2008 in South Korea. The song was written and produced by Park Jin-young and features a sample from the Italian trio La La's "Johnny Johnny." It became popular within hours, becoming a top search term and ranking No. 1 on various digital music sites. The song is recorded and released in four different languages: Korean, English, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese.

A live performance video of "Nobody" at M! Countdown was for some period of time the most viewed K-pop video on YouTube, until being surpassed on September 1, 2011 by the music video for "Gee" by Girls' Generation. The live performance was also the first K-pop video to reach 50 million views on YouTube (in 2011).

Background

The single became very successful in the countries where it was released, topped charts both in South Korea, China and United States, the song has sold an estimated number of 10,500,000 copies (around 9,000,000 downloads).

Hiatus was a crust punk band from Liege, Belgium.

History

Hiatus formed in May 1989, at this time the line-up was Phill, Ben, Raf and Phil. They played in a Doom/Discharge/E.N.T. style and recorded a rehearsal demo called "The Frightening Men Story". In May 1990, they put out their second rehearsal demo called "In My Mind" and soon after Wills joined them on bass.

The band went into the studio and recorded a set of songs which were released on two 7"s and various compilations. Their first 7" "I don't scare easily but..." was released on the French label Urban Alert Records and had a second pressing on Nabate/Mother Peace Records. A split 7" with RMR from Japan called "Severe Existence" was Hiatus' second 7" and was released on the Japanese label MCR Co.

Phil and Raf left and some new members joined: Azill on guitars and vocals and for a short time Vrokker and Leffe from Chronic Disease. During August 91, Hiatus toured the U.S.A. and Canada with The Wurst from Rhode Island and played with bands like Rorschach, and Born Against. In November 1991, they recorded another studio session. From this recording the "Way Of Doom" 7" and Hiatus/Embittered 7" were released in 1992. In February 1992, Hiatus toured Europe with No Security from Sweden, also in 1992 they toured the U.K. with Mushroom Attack from the Netherlands.

Hiatus (television)

A hiatus of a television series is a break of at least several weeks in the normal schedule of broadcast programming. It can occur during a season of a television program, which is called a mid-season break, or can be between television seasons (usually starting in June and ending in August on the Northern Hemisphere when shooting starts for the next season).

Planned hiatus

Television stations often implement a hiatus for their programs to split up a season so it will run longer until the next season. Some programs also go on hiatus so that their television networks can reserve episodes for airing during ratings sweeps, wherein networks compute their television advertising fees based on their programs' ratings during that period. Programs "return from hiatus" in time for the sweeps period so as to generate high ratings, and as such usually include special content in programming such as guest stars, controversial and unexpected plots or topics, extended episodes, and finales. Television programs tend to have a hiatus for Christmas or the summer if the season doesn't end before, resuming at some point after, most often January in the case of Christmas and September in the case of the summer.
