The young college-going Shiva (Prithviraj Sukumaran) is extremely energetic and enthusiastic. Being very short tempered, he gets easily provoked by the rich, proud Vasu (Karthik Kumar) and his sneering attitude. From glares and snarls to punches and fights, Vasu and Shiva do it all, even for unreasonable, petty things. It is Shakthi (Shakthi Vasudevan) who stops their quarrels before they injure each other very badly. As he is friendly, kind-hearted and cool-headed, Shakthi tries to bring Shiva and Vasu together on friendly terms but in vain. Shiva, Shakthi and their faithful friend Bala stay together through thick and thin and are always ready to voice out their views on behalf of the hostelites in the college. Shakthi’s father (Bhagyaraj) often visits his son in the hostel and is like a father to all of Shakthi’s friends. Meera (Priyamani), the daughter of an M.L.A., nurtures a soft corner for Shiva. She is brave enough to stand up to him and check him when he throws unnecessary tantrums. Shalini (Anuja Iyer), Meera’s friend, is a shy, reserved Muslim girl from a very strict family background. She is often preoccupied with her own thoughts. Karthik (Lollu Sabha Jeeva) is a total show-off who tries to humiliate Shiva and Shakthi but ends up making a fool of himself.
Ninaithale Inikkum refers to two individual Tamil language films:
Ninaithale Inikkum (Tamil:நினைத்தாலே இனிக்கும்) (English: Sweet Memories) is a 1979 Indian Tamil language comedy drama film directed by K. Balachander starring Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth, Jayaprada, Geetha and Nakul. The story was written by Sujatha Rangarajan. The film was also simultaneously shot in Telugu as Andamaina Anubhavam. A large part of the film was shot in Singapore.
The film follows lead chandru (Kamal Hassan) who plays a singer and his band on a tour to Singapore. Over there Chandru meets his love interest Sona (Jayaprada), only to find that she is terminally ill. The film ends on a tragic note with the lady's demise.
Taking a step aside from the usual serious dramas that Balachander is known to direct, this film was an attempt at a light comedy with its music serving as the main attraction. Many of K. Balachander's students like Jayasudha, Sarath Babu, Geetha and Narayana Rao appear in cameo for their mentor. This was the debut film for actor S. V. Shekhar.Jayasudha's sister Subhashini also appears. The band in the movie and the music were inspired by the Beatles.
Ninaithale Inikkum is a Tamil talk show, which airs on Vendhar TV. Hosted by Kushboo.
