Marriage in Islam

In Islam, marriage is a legal contract (Literary Arabic: عقد القران ʻaqd al-qirān, "matrimony contract"; Urdu: نکاح نامہ‎ / ALA-LC: Nikāḥ-nāmah) between two people. Both the groom and the bride are to consent to the marriage of their own free wills. A formal, binding contract is considered integral to a religiously valid Islamic marriage, and outlines the rights and responsibilities of the groom and bride. There must be two Muslim witnesses of the marriage contract. Divorce (also called Tallaq in Arabic) is permitted and can primarily be issued by the groom. However, the bride also has the right to initiate the demand for the divorce. The actual rules of marriage and divorce (often part of Personal Status Laws) can differ from country to country, based on codified law and the school of jurisprudence that is largely followed in that country.

In addition to the usual marriage until death or divorce, there is a different fixed-term marriage known as zawāj al-mutʻah ("temporary marriage") permitted only by the Twelver branch of Shia Islam for a pre-fixed period. There is also Nikah Misyar, a non-temporary marriage with the removal of some conditions permitted by some Sunni Muslims, which usually amount to the wife waiving her right to sustenance from her husband.

Nikah (film)

Nikah is a 1998 Pakistani film and a remake of the 1977 film Aina. The once-again presence of onscreen pair Reema Khan and Shaan after nearly five years, raised viewers' expectations and made it a much awaited movie of the 1990s.

Synopsis

The story is about two different social classes; Shaan belongs to a middle-class family with great traditional values and Reema is from a rich family. The film portrayed the difficulties of a rich girl adjusting to the life of a middle-class family.

Release

The film was released in 1998. The film was a huge success, and celebrated its Platinum Jubilee at the Pakistani cinemas.

Trivia

The film resulted in raising standards for the film director Sangeeta, who claims only way she will continue to make quality family films, is the success of them.

Nikah is a Pakistani drama serial that was first aired on January 4, 2015 to June 14, 2015 comprising total of 23 episodes. It is directed by Ahmed Bhatti and written by Nasir Hussain.

Sypnosis

The story of Drama serial, Nikaah, revolves around Ayesha and Rohail, who are engaged to each other. Being first cousins, they spend their childhood in the same house and are quite close. Rohail has always dreamt of going abroad for higher studies and his dreams come true after he completes his schooling. With priorities and tastes changing with time, Rohail finds himself attracted to Zehra and marries her without letting his family know, fearing that they would not approve of it.
