Juan Martinez (born January 13, 1985), better known by his stage name Down AKA Kilo, is an American rapper from Oxnard, California.

Martinez was born in Oxnard; his parents were illegal immigrants from Mexico. Growing up, he listened to Cypress Hill and N.W.A and began rapping at age 13. He made his first recordings at the garage of childhood friend Edward "E-Dub" Rios, who would later become producer of the Power 106 radio show Pocos Pero Locos. He released his debut album California Cowboyz in 2003, and his second album Definition of an Ese in 2007, with two singles from the album, "Lean like a Cholo" and "Definition of an Ese."

On March 28, 2009, Down was injured in a car accident at Farmington, New Mexico and put in a coma while hospitalized.

Night Train (EP)

Night Train is an EP by English rock band Keane. The EP's title and material was born out of the group's Perfect Symmetry World Tour of 2008–2009.

Night Train debuted at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart.

Recording

The EP was recorded in various studios during the Perfect Symmetry World tour, and mastered at Abbey Road Studios. Tracks "Stop for a Minute" and "Looking Back" mark Keane's collaboration with Somali/Canadian rapper K'Naan. "I think those tracks show us in a completely different light," says Keane frontman Tom Chaplin. "Your Love" features Tim Rice-Oxley on lead vocals. On 3 February, it was confirmed that the lead single for the EP will be "Stop for a Minute". On 8 March 2010 the song "Clear Skies" was played by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music radio station, making it the first song of the EP to be played on radio. On 11 March 2010 the first single from the EP, "Stop for a Minute", made its debut on Fearne Cotton's BBC Radio 1 show. The song reached the UK Top 40.

Keane's London-based manager Adam Tudhope says the EP "may be a mix of styles and genres of music, but it's full of the hallmarks that make Keane..."

Night Train (Jason Aldean song)

"Night Train" is a song written by Neil Thrasher and Michael Dulaney and recorded by American country music artist Jason Aldean. It was released in June 2013 as the fourth single and title track from his fifth album of the same name.

Content

"Night Train" is a mid-tempo rocking ballad about two lovers finding the perfect spot for romance.

Critical reception

Billy Dukes of Taste of Country gave "Night Train" three out of five stars. He stated, "the lyrics aren’t as vivid as some of Aldean’s better ballads, but his performance feels inspired by some real place and love from his past." He also said, "Aldean shows real vocal power and that this song is a nice reminder of what he’s capable of."

Jason Aldean debuted the new single on June 5, 2013 on the CMT Music Awards.

Commercial performance

The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 92, and the Hot Country Songs chart at No. 26 for the week that the album Night Train was released. It dropped from the chart until the song was released to radio as a single, and re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 90 for the charted dated July 27, 2013. It peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the charted dated October 12, 2013. The song has reached its million sales mark in the US by April 2014.

Night Train (1998 film)

Night Train is a 1998 Irish romantic thriller directed by John Lynch. Starring John Hurt and Brenda Blethyn, the film follows an ex-prisoner with a passion for electric trains and the Orient Express. In his attempts at starting a new life, he finds refuge in the house of a possessive old lady, played by Pauline Flanagan. Things begin to get complicated when he falls for the lady's daughter and he faces the ultimate question of catching the night train or taking charge of his life like an adult.

Lynch was nominated for a Crystal Star for the work at his debut feature at the Brussels International Film Festival. John Hurt won the Best Actor award at the Verona Love Screens Film Festival for his performance.

Night Train (Jimmy Forrest composition)

"Night Train" is a twelve-bar blues instrumental standard first recorded by Jimmy Forrest in 1951.

Origins and development

"Night Train" has a long and complicated history. The piece's opening riff was first recorded in 1940 by a small group led by Duke Ellington sideman Johnny Hodges under the title "That's the Blues, Old Man". Ellington used the same riff as the opening and closing theme of a longer-form composition, "Happy-Go-Lucky Local", that was itself one of four parts of his Deep South Suite. Forrest was part of Ellington's band when it performed this composition, which has a long tenor saxophone break in the middle. After leaving Ellington, Forrest recorded "Night Train" on United Records and had a major rhythm & blues hit. While "Night Train" employs the same riff as the earlier recordings, it is used in a much earthier R&B setting. Forrest inserted his own solo over a stop-time rhythm not used in the Ellington composition. He put his own stamp on the tune, but its relation to the earlier composition is obvious.
