Newsboys

Newsboys (sometimes stylized as newsboys) are a Christian pop rock band founded in 1985 in Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia, by Peter Furler and George Perdikis. They have released 17 studio albums, 6 of which have been certified gold. Currently, the band consists of lead vocalist Michael Tait formerly of DC Talk, keyboardist and bassist Jeff Frankenstein, drummer and percussionist Duncan Phillips, and guitarist Jody Davis.

History

1980s

The band was formed in Mooloolaba, Queensland in 1985 by two young men: Peter Furler and his school mate George Perdikis. Two other teens were added soon after: Furler's best friend, John James, and bassist Sean Taylor. The band's original name was The News, but once in the US they changed it to The Newsboys to avoid conflict with the US-based band Huey Lewis and the News. The band came to the United States in late 1987 after getting signed with Refuge Communications and released the album Read All About It in 1988 in the United States.

1990s

After signing with Star Song Communications, they released two more albums in 1990 and 1991: Hell Is for Wimps and Boys Will Be Boyz, with its first self-titled video. None of the band's first three albums garnered much attention, and the band's line-up changed with every release.

Restart is a Brazilian pop boyband that independently formed the subgenre of happy rock in São Paulo in August 2008. It became one of the best known bands in the country at the time, and had been touted as being one of the pioneers in the use of colored clothing, especially in regards to their pants apparel. The band's first album was released in November 2009, entitled Restart. It has three songs - "Recomeçar", "Levo Comigo" and "Pra Você Lembrar".

Their colorful fashion trend competed with the so-called música colorida (colorful music) subculture in Brazil - seen in the youth of Brazil as well as much of Latin America. These teens are called coloridos for being fans of Restart's genre of music, which is a subgenre of indie rock that was underground in nature and with only few supporters in big cities like Curitiba, and São Paulo, being unknown to those fans of metal and rock in Brazil, the so called "rockeiros" (Brazilian rockers). Many of the fans of the group also exhibit affinity for other pop artists such as Justin Bieber, or Ariana Grande. There has been a certain Brazilian anti-Pop and negative reception towards the band, with a particular aversion to the apparel and fashion of the band (in spite of being an independent band, Restart is widely criticized for its distance to such notable ideologies as Do it yourself, and labeling themselves as creators of a unique and innovative form of rock, but not cultivating this musical genre). Dinho Ouro Preto, Capital Inicial, a famous Brazilian musician, has made several criticisms against Restart. Felipe Neto, a famous Brazilian blogger, has also been very critical of the band Restart and the "colorful" movement that it advocates.

Restart (song)

"Restart" is a song by American recording soul/jazz artist Bilal. Released in 2010, it is the official lead single from his studio album Airtight's Revenge. Produced by Bilal and Steve McKie, and released as an EP with remixes produced by Deadelus.

Music Video

The video for “Restart” was directed by Michael Sterling Eaton. “Eaton’s muted color palate and stark imagery paired with Bilal’s vibrant vocals, make for audio and visual magic. He combines oddball imagery surrounding a masked man and shots of Bilal performing, all of which are covered by an ever-changing color palate.
