New Year's Eve (2002 film)

New Year's Eve is a 2002 British short romance independent film. The film was written and directed by Col Spector. New Year's Eve was later included in the 2005 compilation film Stories of Lost Souls.

Plot

A young woman brings out the worst in a group of friends on New Year's Eve.

The film received mixed reviews. Angus Wolfe Murray of Eye For Film gave 4 and half out of 5 stars and said "The production values of Colin Spector's film are terrific, matched by his acerbic script and pin-sharp performances. The problem, if indeed it is a problem, remains the party itself. Sane men would certify themselves rather than stay another minute."

The characters of David, Matt, Michael and Paul also appeared in Spector's debut feature film Someone Else, Stephen Mangan portrayed David in both films while different actors played Matt, Michael and Paul.

New Year's Eve (Up All Night)

"New Year's Eve" is the twelfth episode of the first season of the American comedy television series Up All Night. The episode originally aired on NBC in the United States on January 12, 2012. It was written by Erica Rivinoja and was directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller. The episode also featured a guest appearance from Jason Lee as Chris and Reagan's neighbor and Ava's boyfriend, Kevin.

During Reagan (Christina Applegate) and Chris's (Will Arnett) first New Year's Eve game night, Reagan's competitiveness comes out causing Chris to become embarrassed. Meanwhile, Missy (Jennifer Hall) brings an unexpected date along to the party and, Kevin (Jason Lee) starts to feel as though Ava (Maya Rudolph) may be ashamed of him.

"New Year's Eve" received mostly positive reviews from critics. According to the Nielsen Media Research, "New Year's Eve" drew 4.28 million viewers and received a 2.0 rating/5% share in the 18–49 demographic, marking a 5% rise in the ratings from the previous episode, "First Christmas". It ranked third in its timeslot and was the second highest-rated NBC program of the night after The Office.

New Year's Eve (1924 film)

New Year's Eve (German: Sylvester: Tragödie einer Nacht) is a 1924 German silent Kammerspielfilm directed by Lupu Pick and written by Carl Mayer. It was filmed in 1923 and premiered in Berlin on January 4, 1924. The film is known to be one of the earliest examples of a kammerspielfilm and was innovative in its extensive use of "entfesslte Kamera", using tracking and gliding techniques as opposed to keeping the camera stationary. Like Pick's previous films, New Year's Eve does not use intertitles.

Plot

A man is celebrating New Year's Eve with his wife and his mother, who are at odds with one another. As the evening progresses, the rivalry between the two women increases to an open hatred that eventually escalates into a big fight. The man assumes no position in favor of either woman and instead chooses to flee from the conflict.

New Year

New Year is the time at which a new calendar year begins and the calendar's year count increments by one. Many cultures celebrate the event in some manner. The New Year of the Gregorian calendar, today mostly in use, falls on 1 January (New Year's Day), as was the case both in the old Roman calendar (at least after about 713 BCE) and in the Julian calendar that succeeded it. The order of months was January to December in the Old Roman calendar during the reign of King Numa Pompilius in about 700 BCE, according to Plutarch and Macrobius, and has been in continuous use since that time. Many countries, such as the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, the UK, and the United States, mark 1 January as a national holiday.

During the Middle Ages in western Europe, while the Julian calendar was still in use, authorities moved New Year's Day variously, depending upon locale, to one of several other days, among them: 1 March, 25 March, Easter, 1 September, and 25 December. These New Year's Day changes generally reverted to using January 1 before or during the various local adoptions of the Gregorian calendar, beginning in 1582. The change from March 25 – Lady Day, one of the four quarter days – to January 1 took place in Scotland in 1600, before the ascension of James VI of Scotland to the throne of England in 1603 and well before the formation of the Kingdom of Great Britain in 1707. In England and Wales (and in all British dominions, including Britain's American colonies), 1751 began on March 25 and lasted 282 days, and 1752 began on January 1. Eve is an Asian satellite and cable TV channel which provides documentary, factual-entertainment, lifestyle and reality programming for female audiences.

It is owned and operated by Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, a division of Discovery Communications.

The Outfoxies

The Outfoxies (アウトフォクシーズ, Autofokkushīzu) is a fighting arcade game which was released by Namco in 1994; it ran on Namco NB-2 hardware and features several professional hitmen secretly set against each other by a held-in-common client, "Mr. Acme". Acme and his wife had hired each of them to assassinate a wealthy art collector, then arranged for them to kill each other to ultimately avoid having to pay their fee - and it is an early example of arena fighting game which predates the straight-to-console Super Smash Bros. and Jump Super Stars series.
