Never Give Up, NME, 9 July 1983 Svelte, shorn and cleanly attired Mr Haig looms out of the cover photo for his latest release and invites you to party fairly leaping with lithesome young things all wearing Ray Bans.

Paul's the life and soul of the event though, I mean who needs a portable stereo system once Paul decides to open up with that golden syrupy voice of his? Paul's pal Groucho Smykle also turns up later and entertains the assembled crowd with an interesting, but sadly predictable party mix.

Imaani Saleem (born Melanie Crosdale, Born 1972, Derby, England) is an English singer and is best known for representing the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998.

    Career

In 1998, she entered the A Song For Europe competition to find the UK's song for the Eurovision Song Contest. Her track "Where Are You" was a runaway winner with the British public and was selected to represent the UK. Imaani finished seven points behind the winner Dana International, in second place in the Eurovision Song Contest 1998. Britain has never been so close to winning ever since.

After its success in the contest, "Where Are You" entered the UK Singles Chart in May 1998, peaking at #15. The track spent more than two months in the chart. Despite this success, her record label EMI decided to cancel the release of her follow-up single "You Got A Way" and parted company with Saleem.

In 2000, she supplied the lead vocals on Tru Faith & Dub Conspiracy's UK garage cover of Adina Howard's "Freak Like Me". "Freak Like Me" reached No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart. Saleem went on to record with the jazz-funk band, Incognito.

    I'm a mine of information
I'm a stranger to the cause
I been watchin' you watchin' me babe
But the words I had are lost
Just wanna be everything you need babe
And I'm begging you to say in my heart
    A room with a view
    There's only a fool there
I will never give up , never give up , never give up
I will never give up , never give up , never give up
    I will follow you home
How can you turn me away
Did you ever get hungry or thirsty
    With a dream to satisfy
You don't wanna be safe from being lonely
But you're throat is kinda dry
Did you ever get senseless or defenseless
    An exception to the rule
Ain't nobody pushin' you but you're rushin' in
And I'm beggin you to stay in my heart
Whatever it takes to make you belong there
I will never give up , never give up , never give up
I will never give up , never give up , never give up
    Love knows no other way
Being together and hearing you say you'll be mine
    You're my world
    And I'll be forever yours
Did you ever get hungry or thirsty
    With a dream to satisfy
You don't wanna be safe from bein' lonely
But you're throat is kinda dry
Did you ever get senseless or defenseless
    An exception to the rule
Ain't nobody pushin you but you're rushin' in
And I'm beggin' you to stay in my heart
Whatever it takes to make you belong there
I will never give up , never give up , never give up
I will never give up , never give up , never give up
    I will follow you home
