Nazir Ahmed Khan

Nazir (also written as 'Nazir Ahmad Khan') (1910–1983) was a Pakistani/Indian film actor, director and producer. He was the first successful film hero in pre-independent India and later in Pakistan. Nazir was associated with almost two hundred films during his career, which spanned over a period of 55 years. Nazir Ahmed was widely known as Bao Jee in the film industries in India and in Pakistan.

His Film Career

It was in the late 1920s when Nazir went to Calcutta along with A.R. Kardar, and appeared in a character role in Kardar's Sarfarosh (aka 'The Daring One') in 1930. Kardar later made Heer in which Nazir played the role of the Qazi. Both these films are from the silent era. He also did a secondary role in Kardar's Farebi Daku also called Mysterious Bandit (1931).

Nazir's artistic elegance and excellent command over acting won him applaud all across the industry and resulted in him going to Bombay. During this period he was cast in important leading roles in 'Rajputana Ka Sher', 'Chandaal Chaukri', 'Badmaash Ka Baita' and 'Pahari Sawar'. In 1934 he went back to Calcutta on the request of his old friend Kardar to act in important roles in his productions of Chandragupta (1934), Sultana (1934), Milap (1937), 'Mandar', 'Night Bird' and 'Aab-e-Hayat'. He also worked as the lead in Ezra Mir's 'Badroohi' and 'Zareena'.

Nazir Ahmed Khan (politician)

Chaudhry Nazir Ahmed Khan (Urdu: چوہدری نذیراحمد خاں‎) is a veteran politician and former member of All India Muslim League, who served as a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan (1990-1993). During the course of pre and post partition of the subcontinent, Nazir Ahmed Khan played a significant role in major political parties like the All India Muslim League (Pre-Partition) and Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. He has great vision on the political horizon of Pakistan.

Family Background

Nazir Ahmed Khan was born in 1923 to a Muslim Rajput family in the Tehsil Batala of District Gurdaspur, Eastern Punjab in what is currently India. His great-grandfather accepted Islam and converted from Kesar Singh to Kesar Khan. Keser Khan was the direct descendant of famous Rajput warriors, Jaimal and Fatta known for their legends, one of the famous was their resistance to Mughal Emperor Akbar, when Akbar’s army besieged the fort of Chittor. After the Partition of India , Nazir Ahmed Khan’s family migrated to Sialkot Pakistan, he later permanently settled in Bhopalwala, a small town of Sialkot district.

Nazir Ahmed (physicist)

Nazir Ahmed (or Nazir Ahmad), D.Phil., OBE (1 May 1898, Lahore – 30 September 1973, Karachi) was a Pakistani experimental physicist and a chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) from 1956 to 1960.

Life

Nazir Ahmed obtained his B.Sc. in physics from MAO College, Aligarh in 1919. He attended the University of Cambridge, UK, under the supervision of Ernest Rutherford. There he received his M.Sc. in 1923, and PhD in experimental physics in 1925. In 1930, Ahmed came back to India, where he was appointed assistant director at the Technological Laboratory, Central Cotton Committee of India, and became its director after one year. In 1945, he was appointed member of the Indian Tariff Board. After the partition of India, Ahmed migrated to Pakistan, where he held various positions, such as joint secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Pakistan Development Board. In 1956 he became the first chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) until 1960.

Nazir Ahmed (scholar)

Professor Emeritus Nazir Ahmed is an Indian scholar, writer and teacher of Persian language. He was honoured by the Government of India, in 1987, by bestowing on him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the propagation of Persian and literature.

Biography

Nazir Ahmed was born on 3 January 1915, in the small hamlet of Kalahi Gharib (Gharrah), near Gonda, in Uttar Pradesh, India. He did his schooling in a local school from where he passed the primary education in 1930 and shifted to Gonda High School to complete his matriculation in first division and distinction in mathematics, in 1934. Subsequently, he joined Christian College, Lucknow and completed his intermediary and Munshi examinations, in 1936 and went on to secure BA (Hons) in Persian, in 1939, with first rank and first division. His master's degree was completed in 1940, again with a first rank, which earned him two gold medals and a scholarship for higher studies.

Professor Ahmed started his career as a teacher at the Deoria Government High School, in Uttar Pradesh, immediately after the completion of his master's degree and continued there till he was transferred, in 1943, to Basti Government High School. Professor Ahmed taught at the school for ten years which he utilized for higher studies by pursuing research in Persian and enrolling for PhD, under the guidance of Prof. Masood Hasan Rizvi, to earn the doctoral degree in Zahoori (Tarshezi), in 1945. He continued his research by registering for DLitt at the Lucknow University, and his thesis on the Persian poets of Aadil-Shah period earned him the degree of DLitt, in 1950.

Ahmed Khan (choreographer)

Ahmed Khan is an Indian choreographer, producer, actor, director and writer. Khan began as a child actor playing small roles in films like Raakh. He played an orphan boy in his debut film, Mr. India and worked as choreographer's assistant in Anjaam. He choreographed for films such as Rangeela, Taal, Ghajini and Kick. He was a judge of Dance India Dance Lil Master season 3. Khan made his directorial debut with the 2004 film Lakeer – Forbidden Lines starring John Abraham. In 2007, he released Fool n Final, a comedy with Sunny Deol and Shahid Kapoor. He produced and wrote the script for Paathshaala in 2010. Khan is scheduled to appear in the upcoming sequel to Mr. India, Mr. India 2.

Personal life

Ahmed Khan met Shaira who was a model and proposed marriage to her right away because for him it was love at first sight. Ahmed Khan and Shaira dated for six months. Ahmed Khan got married to Shaira when she was barely 18. Ahmed Khan proves it over and over that he loves his wife, Shaira Khan too much. So much so that at the recent Filmfare award fucntion where he won the best choreography award for jumme ki raat (Kick). He dedicated the award to her saying, he dedicates the award to his newly married gorgeous and beautiful wife, Shaira khan. It goes the same for Screen awards and many more awards this year. His words remain unchanged for the love of his life. Ahmed Khan started a production house for his wife, Shaira Khan called Paperdoll Entertainment. Where they jointly produced the movie Paathshaala. In which he has written the script and now they are the producers of Ek Paheli Leela, releasing on 10 April 2015.
