Nat (spirit)

The nats (Burmese: နတ်‌; MLCTS: nat; IPA: [naʔ]) are spirits worshipped in Burma (or Myanmar) in conjunction with Buddhism. They are divided between the 37 Great Nats and all the rest (i.e., spirits of trees, water, etc.). Almost all of the 37 Great Nats were human beings who met violent deaths (စိမ်းသေ, lit. "green death"). They may thus also be called nat sein (နတ်စိမ်း; lit. green spirits). The word 'sein', while meaning 'green', is being used to mean 'raw' in this context. There are however two types of nats in Burmese Buddhist belief.

Nat spirits are termed lower nats or auk nats (အောက်နတ်), whether named or unnamed, whereas ahtet nats (အထက်နတ်) or higher nat dewas inhabit the six heavens. Much like sainthood, nats can be designated for a variety of reasons, including those only known in certain regions in Burma. Nat worship is less common in urban areas than in rural areas, and is practised among ethnic minorities as well as in the mainstream Bamar society. It is however among the Buddhist Bamar that the most highly developed form of ceremony and ritual is seen.

Nat (Muslim)

The Nat are a Muslim community found in North India. A few are also found in the Terai region of Nepal. They are Muslim converts from the Hindu Nat caste.

History and origin

The Muslim Nat are a semi-nomadic community, traditionally associated rope dancing, juggling, fortune telling and begging. The Nat of Bihar are said to have immigrated from Middle east and Central Asia. They are found mainly in the districts of Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur and Patna. They speak Urdu.

Present circumstances

The Muslim Nat are now mainly cattle dealers, while small number are involved in begging. They are one of the most marganalized Muslim community in Bihar. Almost all the Nat are landless. A small number of Nat have now settled down and are cultivators.

The Nat are strictly endogamous, and generally live in isolation from other Muslim communities in their neighbourhood. Although they are Sunni Muslims, they incorporate many folk beliefs.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Nat are said to have come originally from Chittaur in Rajasthan. They are found mainly in the districts of Varanasi, Allahabad, Barabanki and Jaunpur. The Nat speak Urdu and Hindi and converted to Islam during the rule of the Nawabs of Awadh, about two hundred years ago. The Muslim Nat consist of number of sub-groups, the main ones being the Aman, Goleri, Mahawat, Rari, Siarmaroa and Turkata. Many Nat are still involved with fortune telling and live a semi-nomadic lifestyle. Most Nat are now landless agricultural labourers, and are in depressed economic circumstances. The Nat are Sunni Muslims, but incorporate many folk beliefs.

KCSP (AM)

KCSP (610 AM, "610 Sports") is a sports/talk radio station located in Kansas City, Missouri. The Entercom-owned station broadcasts on 610 kHz. Its transmitter is located in Prairie Village, Kansas, and studios are located in Mission, Kansas.

KCSP AM is a class B regional station, with a broadcasting power of 5,000 Watts in both the daytime and nighttime, using a non-directional antenna (1 tower).

Although the station had the slogan "The Football Channel" when it began in June 2003, it is currently the flagship station of MLB's Kansas City Royals, whose rights it reacquired for the Entercom radio network in 2008 which had held the rights on KMBZ before. The Kansas Jayhawks radio network also appears on KCSP, which switched from covering the Missouri Tigers to Kansas in 2006, sending the Tigers broadcasts to KMBZ.

History

1922-1967 - WDAF (Full Service)

The Kansas City Star signed on experimental station 9XAB in 1922, licensed at 833 kHz, as part of a rivalry with other newspapers in town. Popular Science magazine noted the station in its March 1922 issue for airing weather and market reports at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and concerts in the evening. The Star adopted the WDAF call letters May 16, 1922. WDAF bounced around various frequencies, traveling to 750, 730, 680, 820 and 810 kHz. WDAF moved to 610 kHz in 1928, splitting time with station WOQ. WDAF joined the NBC radio network before moving to 610 kHz, running both Red & Blue programs up until 1930, when they became a primary NBC Red affiliate.

Sports 2000

Sports 2000 is a restricted-rules class of two-seat, rear-engined, open-cockpit, full-bodied sports-prototype racecar used largely in amateur road racing. Sometimes known as S2000 or S2, the class was developed by John Webb, then of the Brands Hatch racing circuit in England, as an affordable form of sports car racing, essentially a sports car version of Formula Ford 2000. The key attributes of the class were a body design reminiscent of two-liter Group 6 sports racing cars like the Chevron B21 and Lola T-212 but with an ultra-reliable and inexpensive drivetrain comprising a two-liter "Pinto" overhead camshaft engine with very limited allowed modifications and the well-proven, VW-based Hewland Mk 9 transaxle. S2000 aerodynamics continued to evolve beyond their 1970s Group 6 roots, with very 'slippery' cars featuring spats over the wheels becoming the norm.

In the UK S2000 was largely seen as an alternative to front-engined Clubmans racing, a class for amateurs who were often deeply involved in developing their own cars over periods of years. The category suffered due to the demise of FF2000 in the late 80s, and further when Clubmans transformed into the rear-engined National Supersports category, but it has recently undergone something of a revival in both historic and contemporary forms as a (relatively) low-cost form of sports car racing.

Sports 360

Sports 360 is a sports-oriented show developed by Sports5 and it is aired on TV5. It was previously known as a pre-game program for the PBA games from November 2014 until it became a spin-off since February 1, 2015. Currently, the show focuses on the latest news in the PBA, United Football League, Pacific Xtreme Combat, and other sports, as well as sport interviews.

The show previously aired on Sunday afternoons before the PBA before moving to its current late night timeslot on the same Sunday to accommodate airing other sporting events on TV5.

'Kangkong' joke issue

On the May 17, 2015 episode, Atayde waved a 'kangkong' (water spinach) in front of former Barangay Ginebra San Miguel player Dylan Ababou, amid on questioning his return. The said joke caused a lot of Ginebra 'diehard' fans much to dismay. In June 2015, Atayde was suspended indefinitely by Sports5 management from all PBA-related shows.
