Nancy Grace

Nancy Ann Grace (born October 23, 1959) is an American legal commentator, television host, television journalist, and former prosecutor. She frequently discusses issues from what she describes as a "victims' rights" standpoint, with an outspoken style that has brought her both praise and criticism. She is the host of Nancy Grace (2005–present), a nightly celebrity news and current affairs show on HLN, and she was the host of Court TV's Closing Arguments (1996–2007). She also co-wrote the book Objection!: How High-Priced Defense Attorneys, Celebrity Defendants, and a 24/7 Media Have Hijacked Our Criminal Justice System.

Grace was also the arbiter of Swift Justice with Nancy Grace in the syndicated courtroom reality show's first season. Due to the show relocating from Atlanta, Georgia (where Grace lives), she was replaced by former Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass. The show was not renewed for a new season under Glass.

Early life

Nancy Grace was born in Macon, Georgia, the youngest of three children, to factory worker Elizabeth Grace and Mac Grace, a freight agent for Southern Railway. Her older siblings are brother Mac Jr. and sister Ginny. The Graces are longtime members of Macon's Liberty United Methodist Church, where Elizabeth plays the organ and Mac Sr. was once a Sunday School teacher.

Nancy Grace (TV series)

Nancy Grace is an American current affairs program hosted by legal commentator Nancy Grace that airs Monday through Thursday nights at 8 PM eastern, 7 PM central, 5 PM pacific on HLN which mainly deals with current-day true crime cases with encore presentations Tuesday through Saturday at 1 AM eastern.

CNN Philippines airs Nancy Grace seven days a week at 3 PM local time.

Controversies

Grace's comments on the show have garnered significant controversy, most significantly involving the Duke lacrosse case, the suicide of interviewee Melinda Duckett and the death of Caylee Anthony.

Guest hosts

When Grace has to take an evening off (for family reasons, or during her run on cycle 13 of Dancing with the Stars for training, for instance), other CNN hosts substitute for her. Usually the substitute will either be In Session anchor Jean Casarez or Jane Velez-Mitchell, though Sam Champion from Good Morning America and Pat Lalama have also hosted the program.

Nancy Grace Roman (born May 16, 1925) is an American astronomer who was one of the first female executives at NASA. She is known to many as the "Mother of Hubble" for her role in planning the Hubble Space Telescope. Throughout her career, Roman has also been an active public speaker and educator, and an advocate for women in the sciences.

Personal life

Roman was born in Nashville, Tennessee to music teacher Georgia Smith Roman and geophysicist Irwin Roman. Because of her father’s work, the family relocated to Oklahoma soon after Roman's birth. Roman and her parents moved to Houston, New Jersey, and to Michigan later on. After 1955, she lived in Washington, DC. Roman considered her parents to be major influences in her interest in science. Outside of her work Roman enjoyed going to lectures and concerts and was active in the American Association of University Women.

Education

When Roman was eleven years old she showed her early interest in astronomy by forming an astronomy club. She and her classmates got together and learned about constellations from books once a week. Although discouraged by those around her, Roman knew by the time she was in high school that she wanted to pursue her passion for astronomy. She attended Western High School in Baltimore where she participated in an accelerated program and graduated in three years.
