New York's 25th congressional district

The 25th Congressional District of New York is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives. It is represented by Democrat Louise Slaughter. The district is now located entirely and exclusively within Monroe County, centered on the city of Rochester.

From 2003 to 2013 it stretched from Syracuse to the northeastern suburbs of Rochester. The district comprised all of Onondaga and Wayne counties, the northernmost portion of Cayuga County and the towns of Irondequoit, Penfield, and Webster in Monroe County. The district contained 100 miles of Lake Ontario shoreline, the easternmost Finger Lakes and significant portions of the Erie Canal.

The 25th District was a Westchester/Rockland seat in the 1960s covering areas now in the 17th and 18th Districts.

In the 1970s it was the lower Hudson Valley district and congruent to the present 19th District. Onondaga County was split between the 32nd District (which included rural counties east of Syracuse now in the 23rd and 24th District) and the 33rd District (which included the Finger Lakes counties in the 24th and 29th Districts).

New York State Route 25

New York State Route 25 (NY 25) is an east–west state highway in downstate New York in the United States. The route extends for just over 105 miles (169 km) from east midtown Manhattan in New York City to the Cross Sound Ferry terminal at Orient Point on the end of Long Island's North Fork. NY 25 is carried from Manhattan to Queens by way of the double-decked Queensboro Bridge over the East River.

NY 25 is unique among NYS routes (not counting interstates) on Long Island as the only one to leave the island (defined geographically), albeit minimally; it ends at the western terminus of the Queensborough Bridge. Not only does it terminate in Manhattan at its west end, but in a sense it also offers an egress from the island at its east end in the form of the ferry terminal (though the ferry is not a part of the route.) However, NY 25 does have something in common with other routes on Long Island. Both termini are without connections to other routes. Several other of the region's routes (for example NY 27, NY 101, NY 106, and NY 107) have similar "dead" ends at one or both termini.
