NEX Stock Exchange

The New Securities Stock Exchange or NEX Stock Exchange (NEX) was a stock exchange located in Podgorica, Montenegro. The NEX Stock Exchange was founded 2001. It was one of two principal stock exchanges in Montenegro, the other being the Montenegro Stock Exchange, also in Podgorica. In January 2010, stockholders in NEX approved a merger with the Montenegro Stock Exchange, initially expected to take place within two to three months. However, the two were technically merged as of 31 December 2010, with their systems jointly operating since 10 January 2011. Thus, NEX Stock Exchange ceased to exist as a legal subject. The merger consolidated and simplified securities trading in Montenegro.

Stock exchange

A stock exchange or bourse is an exchange where stock brokers and traders can buy and/or sell stocks (also called shares), bonds, and other securities. Stock exchanges may also provide facilities for issue and redemption of securities and other financial instruments, and capital events including the payment of income and dividends. Securities traded on a stock exchange include stock issued by listed companies, unit trusts, derivatives, pooled investment products and bonds. Stock exchanges often function as "continuous auction" markets, with buyers and sellers consummating transactions at a central location, such as the floor of the exchange.

To be able to trade a security on a certain stock exchange, it must be listed there. Usually, there is a central location at least for record keeping, but trade is increasingly less linked to such a physical place, as modern markets use electronic networks, which gives them advantages of increased speed and reduced cost of transactions. Trade on an exchange is restricted to brokers who are members of the exchange. In recent years, various other trading venues, such as electronic communication networks, alternative trading systems and "dark pools" have taken much of the trading activity away from traditional stock exchanges.

Writing and inspiration

Lyrically, "Stock Exchange" deals with the life of a high end Wall Street businesslady. The lyrics support this, including how the men "touch her bum in the lift of the Empire State [building]". And also the lyrics, "Is it real this pink punk costume I wear? All the time to seduce Japanese 'hommes d'affaire' [English:businessmen]." She also has suicidal ideations as she sings that she is "dreaming of a hot bath, cutting my veins."

Composition

"Stock Exchange" is credited as an electroclash song with disco and rave influences.

Critical reception

Mark Beaumont of NME said that Miss Kittin "monotones like a German robot Cheeky Girl over some nifty Vice City disco, prompting a moral debate on whether its possible to sexually assualt (sic) a lift tannoy system."

Nex (stylized as "nex") is a super regional suburban shopping mall in Serangoon, within the North-East Region of Singapore. The largest mall in the North East Corridor and one of the largest suburban malls in the country, it has an integrated air-conditioned Serangoon Bus Interchange, the fifth bus interchange in Singapore which is air-conditioned.

History

Nex was built on an empty plot of land 25,007.70 square metres in size directly above Serangoon MRT station, and was envisaged to better utilise land use by incorporating the existing Serangoon Bus Interchange which neighbours the new mall and takes up a relatively large area of land. The land was on the Government Land Sale Programme Reserve List and was first put on public tender by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in 2003 as a 99-year leasehold white site, but it was not awarded. The LTA relaunched the site again on 7 December 2007 and when the tender closed on 26 March 2008, six bids were received, namely Gold Ridge Pte Ltd for $800,900,000.00, Serangoon Community Developments Pte Ltd for $727,000,000.00, FC Retail Trustee Pte Ltd (unit of Frasers Centrepoint) for $706,138,888.00, a joint venture comprising HSBC Institutional Trust Services (Singapore) Limited (trustee for CapitaMall Trust), NTUC Income Insurance Co-Operative Limited and NTUC Fairprice Co-Operative Limited for $660,926,828.00, a joint venture between City Ridgeview Pte Ltd (unit of City Developments), Hong Leong Holdings Limited and TID Pte Ltd for $401,000,000.00 and Peak Star Pte Ltd for $215,000,000.00. The land with a maximum gross floor area (GFA) of 87,527.00 square metres is thus awarded to Gold Ridge Pte Ltd on 28 March 2008 as the top bidder at a tendered price of S$9,150.32 per square metre of GFA.

Nexø

Nexø, sometimes spelled Neksø, is a town on the east coast of the Baltic island of Bornholm, Denmark. With a population of 3,642 (as of 1 January 2015), it is the second largest town, as well as the largest fishing port on the island. Fishing is the mainstay of the town's economy. Nexø is also the site of a distillery (Bornholmske Spiritfabrik ApS) and a mustard factory (Bornholmersennep ApS). The town is also a port of call for the passenger ferries linking Bornholm with Kołobrzeg, Darłowo, and Ustka in Poland.Dueodde, the largest beach on Bornholm, is located south of Nexø, in the southeastern corner of the island.

Etymology

"Nexø" is possibly a combination of the Old Norse elements "nøkke", meaning Nix or water spirit, and "sæ" (sea). It was first documented in 1346 as Nexe.

History

Nexø originated as a fishing village for the parish of Bodilsker with a chapel attached to St Bodil's Church. In 1346, it was granted rights as a market town, dealing in both the herring trade and in agricultural products. Over the centuries the town has suffered a number of disasters. The Lübeckers burnt the town in 1510, in 1563 most of the inhabitants died from the plague and in 1645 it was plundered by 500 Swedish soldiers. In 1756 there was another serious fire and in 1872 a storm damaged the harbour.
