Myx TV

Myx TV (/ˈmiks/; formerly branded simply as Myx, and stylized as myx TV), is an American cable television network based in Glendale, California. It was launched in 2007 and is available nationwide in major cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, Honolulu,Chicago and Seattle. Myx TV was originally targeted to the Asian American youth community with music video as its primary content. However, in 2011, it was reformatted to become a general entertainment channel targeted to the Asian American diaspora.

Background

ABS-CBN International launched Myx TV on DirecTV on February 28, 2007 from its corporate headquarters in Redwood City, California. Myx TV is the American counterpart of myx, an influential music channel in the Philippines, and is programmed and operated independently. The network changed its logo in April 2011. In February 2014, Myx TV moved its operations to Glendale, California.

In May 2013, Myx TV launched a video on demand app on Roku, followed by launches on other over-the-top content platforms including Samsung Smart TV.

Myx

Myx (pronounced as IPA:/ˈmɪks/, stylized as myx) is a Filipino cable television network based in Quezon City. It is targeted to youth audiences with music videos as its primary content, a strategy reminiscent of the early days of MTV. It was introduced on free-to air television through the now-defunct televsion network Studio 23 in 2000. Some of the programs of Myx was shown on Studio 23 during early morning, afternoon and late evening blocks. In 2002, Myx was launched as a stand-alone 24-hour music channel on cable.

Myx is notable for showing the lyrics as the music video plays. This strategy was adapted from karaoke, a popular past-time in Asia. On February 28, 2007, an American counterpart was created to cater the Asian-American community in United States. Since 2006, Myx gives the annual Myx Music Awards for the most influential personalities in the music industry.

History

Myx was first aired on November 20, 2000 on ABS-CBN's sister television network, Studio 23. It was intended to be the replacement of MTV Philippines. It aired on Studio 23 during daytime, as a block-timer.

Mucus

In vertebrates, mucus (/mjuːkəs/ MYOO-kəss; adjectival form: "mucous") is a slippery secretion produced by, and covering, mucous membranes. Mucous fluid is typically produced from cells found in mucous glands. Mucous cells secrete products that are rich in glycoproteins and water. Mucous fluid may also originate from mixed glands, which contain both serous and mucous cells. It is a viscous colloid containing antiseptic enzymes (such as lysozyme), immunoglobulins, inorganic salts, proteins such as lactoferrin, and glycoproteins known as mucins that are produced by goblet cells in the mucous membranes and submucosal glands. This mucus serves to protect epithelial cells (the lining of the tubes) in the respiratory, gastrointestinal, urogenital, visual, and auditory systems in mammals; the epidermis in amphibians; and the gills in fish. A major function of this mucus is to protect against infectious agents such as fungi, bacteria and viruses. The average human nose produces about a litre of mucus per day. Much more mucus is produced in the gastrointestinal tract.

2MYX

2MYX (an abbreviation of To My Ex) is the debut mini album from the South Korean boy band A-Jax. It was released in November 15, 2012 with the song of same name used as the promotional track. The EP also includes the singles "One 4 U" and "Hot Game".

Background

On November 15, the EP and music video of "2MYX" were released at the same time. "2MYX" was described as a response to the Girls' Generation's song "Run Devil Run".

Composition

The EP is composed of seven songs: three new songs, three already-released songs, and an instrumental. "2MYX" was written by Cha Yong-un and Yi Sin-seong and composed by John Lundvik, Andreas Oberg and Kalle Engstrom. "Catch Me If You Can" was written by Koh Minae and composed by Steven Lee and Jimmy Richard Drew. Steven Lee also produced the songs "Your Song", "One 4 U", and "Never Let Go" and composed "Hot Game", which was written by Kim Ji-hyang. An instrumental of "2MYX" was also included on the EP.

Promotions

Promotions for the EP and "2MYX" started on November 15, on Mnet's show M! Countdown. The group also promoted on the music shows Music Bank, Music Core, Inkigayo and Show Champion.
