My Wife

"My Wife" is a song by British rock band The Who, written by bassist John Entwistle. It was originally released in 1971 on Who's Next, and later as the b-side of the popular single "Baba O'Riley" on 6 November 1971 in Europe by Polydor Records.

Background

"My Wife" was the fourth track on "Who's Next" and was recorded at Olympic Studios sometime in May 1971. While it did appear on Who's Next it was thought that it was not a part of the Lifehouse project which was confirmed in 2000, when it was not included in Pete Townshend's Lifehouse Chronicles box set.

Lyrical meaning

The song is about a man who went out and got drunk and was gone for a period of time (due to being locked up in the drunk tank) and is in fear of his wife because she thinks he was spending time with another woman. The song drolly describes, in first person, all the things he needs or needs to do to protect himself from her wrath.

"My Wife" is arguably John Entwistle's highlight on "Who's Next" being that he takes on the lead vocals, bass guitar, piano, and horn section.

La mia signora (internationally released as My Wife) is a 1964 Italian comedy film directed by Tinto Brass, Mauro Bolognini and Luigi Comencini. It consists of five episodes, all starred by Alberto Sordi and Silvana Mangano.

The episode Eritrea, directed by Comencini, was later remade by Sergio Corbucci in the film Rimini Rimini (1987).

Wife

A wife is a female partner in a continuing marital relationship. A wife may also be referred to as a spouse, which is a gender-neutral term. The term continues to be applied to a woman who has separated from her partner and ceases to be applied to such a woman only when her marriage has come to an end following a legally recognized divorce or the death of her spouse. Plot summary

This is the story of Dimple Dasgupta who has an arranged marriage to Amit Basu, an engineer, instead of marrying a neurosurgeon as she had dreamed about. They move to the United States and experience culture shock and loneliness. At one point, she jumps rope to escape her pregnancy. As frustration becomes expressed as abuse, the tale turns to tragedy with the murder of her husband,Amit at the end.

Wife (film)

Wife (妻 Tsuma) is a film directed by Japanese director Mikio Naruse originally released in 1953. It is based on the novel Chairo no me, written by Fumiko Hayashi in 1950. Like other Naruse films from this period, such as Repast and Husband and Wife, the theme of Wife involves a couple trapped with each other. Another theme common to several Naruse films of the period is the way loving relationships dissipate as a result of economic pressures. And like two other Naruse films based on novels by Hayashi, Repast and Lightning, the story involves a stale marriage and unhappy family.
