A symbol is a person or a concept that represents, stands for or suggests another idea, visual image, belief, action or material entity. Symbols take the form of words, sounds, gestures, ideas or visual images and are used to convey other ideas and beliefs. For example, a red octagon may be a symbol for "STOP". On a map, a blue line might represent a river. Numerals are symbols for numbers. Alphabetic letters may be symbols for sounds. Personal names are symbols representing individuals. A red rose may symbolize love and compassion. The variable x in a mathematical equation may symbolize the position of a particle in space.
In cartography, an organized collection of symbols forms a legend for a map.
The word derives from the Greek symbolon (σύμβολον) meaning token or watchword. It is an amalgam of syn- "together" + bole "a throwing, a casting, the stroke of a missile, bolt, beam." The sense evolution in Greek is from "throwing things together" to "contrasting" to "comparing" to "token used in comparisons to determine if something is genuine." Hence, "outward sign" of something. The meaning "something which stands for something else" was first recorded in 1590, in Edmund Spenser's Faerie Queene.

This is an index of characters from the Guilty Gear fighting game series.
Daisuke Ishiwatari has cited Kazushi Hagiwara's manga Bastard‼, and the fighting game Street Fighter II as influence to the Guilty Gear series. However, he noted that the majority of other fighting games were just recycling the character's same skins or style, and so he wanted every character "to be unique in their own way."Kazuhiko Shimamoto's characters was also noted as an inspiration for the men characters, with Ishiwatari saying they needed to be "chivalrous person-like characters", and citing Anji Mito "the most closest to this type". The female ones, on the other hand, have not followed a standard, with he only saying that they needed look like real women.
There are many musical references in the Guilty Gear series, including various characters' names and moves, which were inspired by rock and heavy metal bands like Queen, Guns N' Roses, and Metallica. For instance, the main character, Sol Badguy, was named after Queen's lead vocalist, Freddie Mercury. Both his real name, Frederick, and his last name were influenced by the singer, whose nickname was "Mr. Badguy".
Archibald Thomas Pechey (26 September 1876 in West Ham, London– 29 November 1961 in Wells, Somerset, England) often credited simply as Valentine, was a British lyricist and novelist. The pen name Valentine was derived from his mother's family the Vallentins, who were London distillers. Pechey's maternal grandfather Sir James Vallentin (1814–1870) was Knight Sheriff of London, and Master of the Worshipful Company of Distillers. By the 1880s Pechey's uncle Grimble Vallentine was running the business in Lambeth. His cousin John Franks Vallentin (1882–1914) was awarded the V.C.
Pechey as "Valentine" often wrote lyrics in conjunction with composer James W. Tate. Songs written by Valentine include "Love Will Find a Way" and "A Paradise for Two" (both 1917, from The Maid of the Mountains).
Pechey wrote stories, such as "The Adjusters" (1922) and "An Exploit of The Adjusters: The Man Who Scared The Bank" (1929), under the name Valentine. "The Adjusters" and its sequels are about a group of amateur crime fighters with complementary talents, who "adjust" the results of the law, often tricking criminals into trapping themselves using a logical analysis of the crime, so that the guilty are punished and the good are protected, released or compensated. The Adjusters characters are Daphne Wrayne, a sporting society girl; Sir Hugh Williamson, a noted African explorer; James Treviller, a handsome young nobleman; Martin Everest, a handsome lawyer; and Alan Sylvester, an actor.
Yeah, yeah, would you be my
Oh yeah, yeah, would you be my
Would you be my, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh girl
Everything is so crystal clear
To think about the three four years I've been with you
And it's about to get real in here
'Cause it ain't no reason I shouldn't be one with you
So what are you saying here since we're being crystal clear?
Are you telling me now we should both give up the game?
Although we both made mistakes, there's no one I'd rather take
'Cause without you my life just won't be the same
Oh, would you, would you be my valentine?
Out of all the girls in the world I just want you
Baby yes, I'll be your valentine
'Cause I'm ready when you ask me, I do
Would you be my valentine?
Talking about being my wife
I need you in my life forever
Yes, I'll be your valentine
I'll be glad to be your wife
'Cause I need you in my life forever
Baby, you're like the part of me
Girl, when you cry loud I feel it in my eye, yeah
This will be for eternity
Make a pact together, never will we part no more
I have some rarity, a beautiful jewel I found
You and me together feel like handing love
The love that you give to me, these feelings are so profound
That's why maybe no one can take this love
Oh, would you be my valentine?
Out of all the girls in the world I just want you
Baby yes, I'll be your valentine
'Cause I'm ready when you ask me, I do
Be ready when I answer too, baby
Be my valentine, talking about being my wife
I need you in my life forever
Yes, I'll be your valentine
I'll be glad to be your wife
'Cause I need you in my life forever
Said if you love your woman, you wanna keep up
Show her that you mean it, you really need her
(You need no excuses, go and man up)
Get on one knee and ask for her hand yeah, yeah
You feel it inside, you put your hands way up
If you think it's the one worthy of all your love
Love him and please tell him that you'll never leave him
Find a way to treat him like you did in the beginning
Oh, would you be my valentine, baby?
Out of all the girls in the world I want you
Baby yes, I'll be your valentine
'Cause I'm ready when you ask me I do
Be ready when I answer to, baby
Be my valentine, talking about being my wife
I need you in my life forever
Yes, I'll be your valentine
I'll be glad to be your wife
'Cause I need you in my life forever
So would you be my, would you be my
Would you be my, my valentine?
Would you be my, would you be my
Would you be my, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Be my valentine, talking about being my wife
I need you in my life forever
Yes, I'll be your valentine
I'll be glad to be your wife
