Sinae (신애) Sahara (사하라) Binu (비누) Yuna (유나) |
Lady (Hangul: 레이디) was a Korean pop group, noted as the first transgender group from that country.[1] The band consisted of Sinae, Sahara, Binu and Yuna. According to the official story, they were the best out of hundreds who tried out to be part of this band. Although only three were supposed to be in the group, a fourth was added at the last minute.
Their formation was inspired by the emergence of Harisu, a Korean singer and actress, who is also transgendered. Sinae has previously appeared in commercials with a female dance group as well as a music video by Cho PD, and Sahara is a 2003 beauty pageant winner in Thailand and a former jeans model.
Lady released their first album in 2005, consisting of only a few tracks, with many of them being remixes of their first two singles, "Attention" and "Ladies Night". There was much attention given to them by the press, given their unique status as a transgendered band in a conservative country.[2] However, they were able to perform on Korean music shows only a handful of times, while their music and videos were not well-received. In order to drum up more publicity, they released a photobook featuring nude shots of all the Lady members;[3] this also failed to catapult them into stardom, however.
Lady officially disbanded in early 2007.[4]
"Lady" is a song co-written, co-produced and performed by American neo soul singer D'Angelo, issued as the third single from his debut studio album Brown Sugar. A remixed version of the song (titled the Clean Street Version) was also released, featuring vocals from American hip hop musician AZ. Separate music videos were created for both versions of the song.
"Lady" is D'Angelo's biggest hit single to date in the United States, peaking at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1996. It was certified gold by the RIAA on June 4, 1996. The song was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 1997, but lost to "Your Secret Love" by Luther Vandross.
The Game's 2013 single "All That (Lady)" uses a clear vocal sample of "Lady".
The official music video for the original version of the song was directed by Hype Williams. The video for the remix version was directed by Brett Ratner. In addition to AZ, the remix video features appearances from singers Faith Evans and Joi; as well as Erykah Badu in her first music video appearance.
"Lady" is a song written by Lionel Richie and first recorded by American country artist Kenny Rogers. It was released in September 1980 on the album Kenny Rogers' Greatest Hits.
It is listed at #47 on Billboard's All Time Top 100.
The song was written and produced by Lionel Richie, recorded in 1980, and ranks among Kenny Rogers's biggest hits. Rogers once told an interviewer, "The idea was that Lionel would come from R&B and I'd come from country, and we'd meet somewhere in pop." Lionel wrote the second sentence of the song while he was at the bathroom.
The success of "Lady" also boosted Richie's career. The production work on the song was his first outside the Commodores and foreshadowed his success as a solo act during the 1980s. Rogers was also a featured vocalist on "We Are the World", co-written by Richie. Richie performed the song himself on his 1998 album, Time, and he and Rogers performed the song as a duet on Richie's 2012 release "Tuskegee".
A revolver is a repeating firearm that has a revolving cylinder containing multiple chambers and at least one barrel for firing. The term "revolver" refers to a handgun, but other weapons may also have a revolving chamber. These include some models of grenade launchers, shotguns, and rifles.
Though the original name was revolving gun, the short-hand "revolver" is universally used. (Cannon using this mechanism are known as revolver cannon.) Nearly all early revolvers and many modern ones have six chambers in the cylinder, giving rise to the slang term six-shooter; however, revolvers with a number of different chambers have been made, with most modern revolvers having 5 or 6 chambers.
The revolver allows the user to fire multiple rounds without reloading. Each time the user cocks the hammer, the cylinder revolves to align the next chamber and round with the hammer and barrel, which gives this type of firearm its name. In a single-action revolver, the user pulls the hammer back with his free hand or thumb; the trigger pull only releases the hammer. In a double-action revolver, pulling the trigger moves the hammer back, then releases it, which requires a longer and heavier trigger pull than single-action. Loading and unloading a double-action revolver requires the operator to swing out the cylinder and insert the proper ammunition, all while keeping the gun pointed in a safe direction.
The Wheel of Dublin, also known as Revolver, was a transportable Ferris wheel installation in the Dublin Docklands in the North Wall area of Dublin, Ireland. Commissioned by Harry Crosbie and operated by World Tourist Attractions, it opened to the public in July 2010 and was closed and dismantled 16 months later in November 2011.
When it was installed, it was reported to be "60 metres high". However, when it was dismantled and moved to York, it was reported as "the 53-metre observation wheel".
It weighed 350 tons, had 42 capsules, and a total capacity of 336 passengers.
Revolver (stylized as rEVOLVEr) is the fourth studio album by Swedish metal band The Haunted.
After having been absent for the last two studio albums, Peter Dolving was once again back in the band and provided the vocals for rEVOLVEr. He would remain with the band until he left once again in 2012.
As the album title attempts to make clear with its stylization (i.e. with the word "EVOLVE" printed in upper case letters between the two r's), the band made a conscious decision to slightly tweak ( or "evolve") its songwriting on this particular album. As a result, rEVOLVEr contains some elements that were hitherto absent on previous The Haunted albums. Although the album still contains examples of the band's familiar thrash metal sound (e.g. No Compromise, Sabotage, Sweet Relief), it features considerably more mid-paced riffing (e.g. 99, Burnt to a Shell, Fire Alive) than in any of their previous albums. Two of the tracks even have ballad elements interspersed in them (Abysmal and My Shadow). Also notable is that rEVOLVEr has quite a few instances of clean singing in it, although the vast majority of the vocal tracking was still done in The Haunted's traditional hardcore/metalcore style of screaming.
There is a harp of legend, crafted by a master's hand.
That harp is called My lady, she's the finest in the
land.
Her voice is bright as sunlight, on a laughing summer
stream.
Her spell is woven in the threads, of all our fondest
dreams.
Sing, sing, sing, My Lady
With a voice so rich and sweet.
Win, win, win, My Lady
Every heart you meet!
My Lady travels by my side, where ever I may go.
In summer or in winter, never minding rain nor snow.
She charms the lords and ladies, we meet along the way,
And helps to make me welcome, every place I choose to
stay.
Sing, sing, sing, My Lady
With a voice so rich and sweet.
Win, win, win, My Lady
Every heart you meet!
My Lady has a partner now, as like as twins can be,
Bought to celebrate the joyous day, my love was joined
to me!
We'll play them by the firelight, every night before we
sleep.
Each song will help us treasure, all the memories that
we keep.
Sing, sing, sing, My Lady
With a voice so rich and sweet.
Win, win, win, My Lady
Every heart you meet!
Sing, sing, sing, My Lady
Wile the summer day is long
Win, win, win, My Lady
Play your sweet true lovers' song.
