My Destiny is a Maxi single/EP by the symphonic metal band Leaves' Eyes, released on 24 July 2009. The songs "My Destiny" and "Northbound" are extracts from the then upcoming album Njord. The rest of the tracks are exclusive to this release.
On 28 August 2009, the band released the music video for the title track. In the video, a Norse warrior leaves his home to fight in a war after his wife gives him a necklace. While fighting, the necklace falls off and is retrieved by an enemy. He brings it back to the wife, telling her the owner is dead. She commits suicide by jumping off a cliff, her body later retrieved by her husband who is still alive. Angry, he slays several more enemies.
All lyrics written by Liv Kristine Espenæs Krull, all music composed by Alexander Krull, Mathias Röderer, Thorsten Bauer, except where noted.
My Destiny may refer to:
"My Destiny" is a pop song performed by American Idol season 5 contestant Katharine McPhee and written by Harry Sommerdahl, Hanne Sørvaag, and Tim Baxter. McPhee first performed the song on the penultimate episode on May 23, 2006 at the Kodak Theatre.
The lyrics are about her destiny—to be with the one she loves and how she finds it difficult to believe that everything that she had always dreamt of is actually happening to her.
It was released as a CD single on June 27, 2006, with a cover of Eva Cassidy's unique 1996 version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as the B-side. McPhee's rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was originally performed during the top 3 finalists' judge's choice round, chosen by Simon Cowell. McPhee performed sitting on the stage and wearing red shoes. She sang the little-known opening verse a cappella. The judges had high praise for McPhee's performance, and it is believed that the song was responsible for vaulting her into the season's final two. Several critics, including Cowell, consider McPhee's performance to be the best of the entire series. McPhee reprised her performance of the song in the final performance show on May 23. Her version again received rave reviews.

Northbound
I have come by the sea-way home
I'm returning to where I belong
I travelled through countries of foreign belief
I've tasted the wine of the youth
But I am...
Northbound
Each day I am without you
Is like day-light without sun
Each night I rest without you
Is a king without his crown
In her eyes burns a light that will guide my way
Northbound I can only rely on my will to go
North again
There's a silence that comforts my ears
There's a purity streaming out in the wind
I will be home
Northbound
Fortnight since I saw her
Wonders never appear half-heartedly
Fortnight since I touched her
I am home
I am home
