Mustard Plug

Mustard Plug is a ska punk band from Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Formed in 1991, the band's original members were Dave Kirchgessner, Mike McKendrick, Colin Clive, and Anthony Vilchez. Currently the band consists of Dave (Vocals), Brandon Jenison (trumpet), Jim Hofer (trombone), Nate Cohn (drums), Colin Clive (guitar/vocals), and Rick Johnson (bass). The band has regularly toured throughout the United States, Europe, Japan, and South America. They have toured with the Warped Tour twice, and participated in the Ska Against Racism Tour. As of 2014, the band has released seven studio albums and continues to tour actively.

Explaining the band's goal, Jim Hofer said, "We may have some messages in our music, but essentially we just do this because we love it and we want people to lighten up and have fun."

In August 2013, Mustard Plug used Kickstarter to fund the recording of a new album. Can't Contain It was released by No Idea Records on January 14, 2014.

History

The band formed in 1991 after Colin and Dave both attended a Special Beat show. There was virtually no ska scene in Grand Rapids at the time, so Mustard Plug was able to develop a unique sound and draw a large following.

Understand Me

by: Yellow 5

Oh baby, that day you came to me
As everything i'd dreamed you'd be
And more
But you broke my heart
By not even trying to
Understand me
You can't understand me
Instead you acted like a bitch
And blamed it all on me
As if it was all my fault
You've made my eyes bleed
You've made my heart shatter
Deep inside of me
For all this it doesnt even matter anymore
People think im insane
Some think im just weird
Just because the old me disappeared
Im in a mental prison
I won't let me out
Ive been broken into a million pieces
So just get away from me
Im sorry for calling you names
But you cant deny
How you acted towards me
I've lost everything
You dont know how this feels
All the expectations
That i cant live upto
Even if i wanted to
Its everything i dispise in this world
Put together to make my life
How is that for ya
Tonight
It all has to end tonight
No more feeling down
Im not fooling around
Tonight
It all has to end tonight
