Mundus (Greek: Μούνδος; died 536) was an East Roman general during the reign of Justinian I.

Origin and early life [link]
Mundus was of the son of Giesmus, a king of the Gepids, and nephew to another Gepid king, Trapstila.[1] The exact date of his birth is unknown. His father was killed in battle against the Ostrogoths of Theoderic in 488, after which Mundus accepted the latter's invitation to join him. He remained in Italy until Theodoric's death in 526, at which point he returned to his homeland.
In Roman service [link]
In 529, Mundus sent envoys to Justinian, offering his allegiance. His offer was accepted, and Mundus was appointed magister militum per Illyricum, head of all military forces in Illyria and along the Danubian frontier.[1][2] During the next two years, he defeated incursions of Slavs and Bulgars into the Balkans and sent much booty to Constantinople.[3]
In 531, Mundus was briefly magister militum per Orientem, replacing Belisarius after his failure at Callinicum, but it seems that Mundus never actually travelled to the East to assume that command. In January 532, he was again appointed commander of the Illyrian forces. In the same month, he happened to be in Constantinople with a force of Heruli mercenaries when the Nika riots broke out. Mundus remained loyal to Justinian and, along with Belisarius, was responsible for the massacre of the supporters of Hypatius in the Hippodrome.[4]
Mundus remained in command of the forces in Illyricum thereafter. In 535, as Justinian launched his attempt to reconquer Italy from the Goths, he led his forces into Dalmatia, which the Goths held, while Belisarius invaded Italy by sea.[5] Mundus defeated the Goths and took the capital, Salona;[6] but, early in the next year, a new Gothic army arrived to reclaim the province. In a skirmish near Salona, Mundus's son Mauricius was trapped with only a few men by a larger Gothic force and was killed. Enraged by the loss of his son, Mundus sallied out and defeated the Goths but was mortally wounded in the pursuit.[7]

Mundo (album)
Mundo is an album by Rubén Blades, released in 2002 under the record label Sony Music Distribution. In 2003, the album earned Blades a Grammy Award for Best World Music Album and also received a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year.

Violet is an album by The Birthday Massacre. It was first released as an extended play (EP) in October 25, 2004, then commercially released in August 9, 2005 as a long play (LP) through Metropolis Records (North America/UK), Repo Records (Europe) and Hellion Records (Brazil). The LP version included four re-recorded and slightly reworked tracks from their Nothing and Nowhere album: "Happy Birthday", "Horror Show", "Video Kid" and "The Dream".

Violet (Peanuts)
Violet Gray is a fictional character featured in the long-running syndicated daily and Sunday comic strip Peanuts, created by Charles M. Schulz. She was initially a major character, until she began to fade into the background.
Violet is best known as a snobby upper-class girl who likes bragging and, tagged along by her friends Patty (her best friend) and Lucy, often teases and torments Charlie Brown.
In addition to the comic strip, Violet has appeared alongside other Peanuts characters in numerous Peanuts television specials, cinematic movies, theatrical plays, and video games.
History
Violet was first featured in the February 7, 1951 Peanuts strip. From there on, Violet's character changed and developed until she began to become less prominent than the other major characters, with her forthcoming appearances reduced to mere cameos. Her last comic strip appearance, discounting the reruns of the strip, was on the November 27, 1997 Peanuts strip.

Violet is a work of interactive fiction by Jeremy Freese. It is a one-room puzzle game. It took first place in the 2008 Interactive Fiction Competition with an average score of 8.53. That score is the highest of any Interactive Fiction Competition entry from 1999 through 2012.Violet was selected as the best interactive fiction game for 2008 by both the Jay Is Games staff and audience.Violet took 35.1% of the vote in the Jay Is Games audience award, compared to 18.7% for the second place winner, Lost Pig.Violet won four awards in the 2008 XYZZY Awards: Best game, writing, individual puzzle ("Disconnecting the Internet in Violet/Getting rid of the key in Violet"), and individual NPC (Violet, the eponymous character).
The protagonist of Violet is a graduate student trying to write 1,000 words for his dissertation. The protagonist's girlfriend, Violet, threatens to leave otherwise. The protagonist faces a stream of distractions, including a window with a view of the campus, and a computer with access to blogs and webcomics. In the course of the game, the protagonist must "reconsider—and risk wrecking—" his career and relationship.
