Julieta (film)

Julieta (initial title: Silencio) is an upcoming 2016 Spanish film written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar. The film stars Emma Suárez and Adriana Ugarte, who play older and younger versions of the film's protagonist, Julieta. The film marks Almodóvar's 20th feature film. It will be released on 8 April 2016 in Spain; international dates are to follow.

Pedro Almodóvar originally titled the film Silencio (English: Silence), revealing this in an interview with The Financial Times after attending a preview of the musical of his film Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown at the Playhouse Theatre, London, in January 2015. Silence is "the principal element that drives the worst things that happen to the main female protagonist," Almodóvar said, stating that the film would be a return to drama and his "cinema of women." He also explained that he had finished the script, but was in the process of casting. Actress Rossy de Palma, who frequently appears in Almodóvar's films, later confirmed she would have a role in the film, followed by the announcement that Emma Suárez and Adriana Ugarte would play the older and younger versions of the film's protagonist respectively in March 2015.El Deseo also revealed more casting the same month.

Mi Plan

Mi Plan (English: My Plan) is the fourth studio album by Canadian recording artist Nelly Furtado. It was released on 11 September 2009 by Nelstar and Universal Music Latino. The album was produced primarily by Furtado with other contributions made by James Bryan, Lester Mendez, Salaam Remi, The Demolition Crew, Julieta Venegas and Brian West. Furtado described the songs on the album to be "simple love songs".

Mi Plan was generally well received by music critics, most applauding Furtado's vocals. The album reached number one on the US Latin Billboard chart, and was later certified platinum (Latin field) album by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album won a Latin Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Album in 2010. The lead single from the album, "Manos al Aire" was released in June 2009. The song became Furtado's first solo number one single on the US Billboard Top Latin Songs chart. She also became the first North American artist to top the chart with an original Spanish song. Two further singles came from the album, "Más", released in December 2009, and "Bajo Otra Luz", released in June 2010. The album was further supported by her 2010 Mi Plan Tour, her first tour reaching Latin America. A remix album was released in October 2010, featuring remixes of the singles.

Silencio (Rafael Hernández song)

"Silencio" (Spanish for "silence") is a bolero written in 1932 by Puerto Rican musician and composer Rafael Hernández. It has become a standard of the Latin music repertoire, with notable performances by artists such as Cuarteto Machín, Daniel Santos, Noro Morales and Ibrahim Ferrer.

This bolero should not be confused with the omelenkó of the same name composed by Elsa Angulo Macías and recorded by Celia Cruz with La Sonora Matancera in 1953.

Buena Vista Social Club

Recorded by various artists in the world of Hispanic music, it came to wider prominence when it was included in the Oscar-nominated soundtrack of the 1999 documentary film Buena Vista Social Club, set in Cuba and directed by Wim Wenders. The song was sung by well-known singers Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Portuondo, and conducted by Juan de Marcos González, featuring Ry Cooder on guitar. The scene from the film in which the song is performed is particularly poignant because the age of the performers (72 and 69, respectively; the oldest bandmember was 91 and several others were over 80 years old) is contrasted by the freshness and emotional intensity of the performance, in which she is moved to tears that he tenderly brushes away.

Eco (video game)

Eco is a wire-frame 3D evolution life simulation game developed by Denton Designs for the Amiga and Atari ST. It was released in 1988 and published by Ocean Software.

The player initially uses mouse or joystick to control an insect, which must avoid predators, find some food, and then find another insect of the same species and mate with it. The player can then unlock one of several "genes", altering the value of which changes their creature. Some changes are only cosmetic and leave the creature in the same species; others can, for instance, make the initial insect a new species with wings and capable of flight. After unlocking multiple genes the player can become a fast dog-like quadruped, a bird, a scorpion or a humanoid. The game does not end until the player starves, is killed by another creature, or deliberately "evolves" into a plant.
