Mullingar RFC is an Irish rugby team based in Mullingar, County Westmeath, playing in Men's Division 1B of the LeinsterLeague and Women's AIL Central. Dermot Dunne & Mick Walls are the Head coaches for Senior Men & Dave Farrelly Head Coach of the Senior Women. The club is a flourishing in Ireland with 4 Adult teams a Strong Youths Section & thriving mini's. We have some of the best facilities including the latest synthetic surfaces for playing and training available today. Our grounds are Shay Murtagh Park, based in Cullion, Mullingar. Main Club Sponsors are Newbrook Group, Green Farms Foods & Shay Murtagh. Our online social media is Facebook as MRFC & MRFC Women's Rugby and our Twitter account @mullingar_rfc. The Club Colours are Scarlet & Dove grey jerseys, navy shorts and red socks.

Mullingar (Irish: An Muileann gCearr, meaning "the left–handed mill") is a civil parish in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is located about 1.7 kilometres (1 mi) east of Mullingar.

Mullingar is one of 3 civil parishes in the barony of Moyashel and Magheradernon in the Province of Leinster. The civil parish covers 22,435.6 acres (90.794 km²). Parts of the parish (Cartronganny, Clownstown, part of Plodstown and Russellstown) are in the neighbouring barony of Fartullagh.

Mullingar, Saskatchewan

Mullingar is a hamlet in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, located 25 kilometres south-south west of Spiritwood, 40 kilometres southeast of Glaslyn and about seven kilometres from Rabbit Lake.

It was named after the town of Mullingar in Ireland.

History

Mullingar was established in 1909 by Charles and Mark Comerford and their families. They left Eldorado, near Madoc, Ontario, and homesteaded in the Mullingar district in 1906. In 1907, a country post office was erected and the name "Mullingar" was chosen by Mark Comerford; to choose he closed his eyes and pointed to a map of Ireland. Charles Comerford was then the first postmaster of Mullingar. He was also one of the five township organizers to pave the way for its local improvement district, and was Reeve for the RM #466 for 19 years. Mullingar was and still is a farming community. Although the original post office is not there, the postal code and boxes are still used.
