The company was originally founded in 1816 as Mutuelle de L'assurance contre L'incendie (the Ancienne Mutuelle). It acquired Compagnie Parisienne de Garantie in 1978 and became Mutuelles Unies. It went on to buy the Drouot Group in 1982, becoming Mutuelles Unies/Drouot. It adopted the AXA name in 1985. The takeover of the American insurance company The Equitable, came in 1991. It bought Union des Assurances De Paris (UAP), France's largest insurer, in 1996 becoming AXA-UAP for a while before reverting to the name AXA in 1999. Then in February 1999 AXA acquired Guardian Royal Exchange. In May 2000 AXA acquired all shares it did not already own in Sun Life & Provincial Holdings. On 14 June 2006 AXA acquired the leading Swiss insurance company Winterthur Group from Credit Suisse for approximately €9 billion.
Reșița (Romanian pronunciation: [ˈreʃit͡sa]; Croatian: Ričica; Czech: Rešice; German: Reschitz; Hungarian: Resicabánya; Serbian: Решица/Rešica; Turkish: Reşçe) is a city in western Romania and the capital of Caraș-Severin County, in the Banat region. Its 2004 population was 83,985.
The name of Reșița might come from the Latin recitia, meaning "cold spring", as the historian Nicolae Iorga once suggested, presuming that the Romans gave this name to Resita, from a water spring on the Doman valley. A much more plausibile version, according to Iorgu Iordan, would be that the name is actually coming from a Slavic word: people living in the neighbouring village of Carașova 15 km away, referring to this place, that in those days was a similar village to theirs, as being „u rečice” (at the creek). It can also be noted that almost all Slavic countries have places with the name of Rečice (pronounced Recițe in Romanian).
Cuenta el abuelo que
De niño el jugó
Entre árboles y risas
Y alcatraces de color
Recuerda un rÃo
Transparente si olores
Donde abundaban peces
No sufrÃan ni un dolor
Cuenta mà abuelo
De un cielo muy azul
En donde voló papalotes
Ue él Mismo construyó
El tiempo pasó y
Nuestro viejo ya murió
Y hoy me pregunté
Después de tanta destrucción
¿Dónde diablos jugarán los pobres niños?
¡Ay ay ay!
¿En dónde jugarán?
Se esta quemando el mundo
