Monroe Furnace is a national historic district and historic iron furnace located at Barree Township in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. It consists of 1 contributing site and 1 contributing structure. They are the remains of the furnace stack, its immediate surroundings, and the visible foundation remains of 14 workers' houses. The furnace stack measures 30 feet square at the base and stands 20 feet tall. The furnace was established in 1846-1847 by General James Irvin. It was in operation until 1863. It is included in the Pennsylvania State University Experimental Forest.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Monroe was an American comic strip which appeared exclusively in Mad Magazine.
The strip was first published in "Mad" in their April 1997 issue, #356. Originally "Monroe" was a pure black-and-white comic strip, written by Tony Barbieri and originally drawn by Bill Wray. In April 2006 Wray left the magazine and the strip was continued from October 2006 on by Tom Fowler. Barbieri still wrote the scripts, occasionally assisted by Ryan Flanders. The last "Monroe" strip was published in issue #502, January 2010.
Monroe is a teenage boy with two antennae-like hairs on his otherwise bald head. Originally he was a preteen, but as the series progressed he became a teenager. Most gags center around Monroe failing to impress his schoolmates, the girls he adores and/or his parents. He often ends up being mocked or even beaten up by the local bullies. Monroe (historically French: Poste-du-Ouachita) is the eighth-largest city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. it is the parish seat of Ouachita Parish. In the official 2010 census, Monroe had a population of 48,815. The municipal population declined by 8.1 percent over the past decade; it was 53,107 in the 2000 census. After a recheck in 2012, the Census Bureau changed the 2010 population from 48,815 to 49,147. Mayor Jamie Mayo, however, maintains that the Monroe population is more than 50,000 and indicated that he will pursue a continued challenge to the count.
Monroe is the principal city of the Monroe Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes the parishes of Ouachita and Union. The two-parish area had a total population of 170,053 in 2000 and an estimated population of 172,275 as of July 1, 2007. The larger Monroe-Bastrop Combined Statistical Area is composed of both the Monroe Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Bastrop Micropolitan Statistical Area. The CSA had a population of 201,074 in 2000.
The Monroe was a Brass Era and vintage car built in Flint, Michigan (1914–1916), Pontiac, Michigan (1916–1918), and Indianapolis, Indiana (1918-1923).
In the mid-teens, R. F. Monroe was head of the Monroe Body Company in Pontiac, while William C. Durant headed Chevrolet in Flint. These two worked together to form Monroe Motor Company in Flint in August 1914. Monroe was president, while Durant was vice-president. There was a cross-stockholding arrangement between the Monroe and Chevrolet companies. Construction of the Monroe cars occurred in a plant formerly used by Chevrolet in Flint, and the Chevrolet company undertook to distribute the new Monroe automobile. However, in April 1916, Durant resigned his vice-presidency, and the Monroe company moved into the former Welch factory in Pontiac.
The company was now reorganized as the Monroe Motor Car Company, with a capitalization increase to US$1,000,000. This company went bankrupt in 1918. In the fall of the same year, the William Small Company of Indianapolis bought the assets of the Monroe company. The Small company had previously distributed Monroes in Indianapolis. The Pontiac factory was now leased to General Motors for production of the Samson truck. Monroe production was thenceforth carried out in Indianapolis only.
