Monica (rocket)

Monica is the designation of a small French sounding rocket. It was built in several versions, which were between 3.05 and 6.27 m long and had a takeoff weight between 62 and 154 kg. It was launched several times between 1955 and 1962 at Bachar (Algeria), Hammaguir (Algeria) and the Ile de Levant (France).

Monica is a novel by Saunders Lewis, written in the Welsh language and originally published in 1930. Lewis is better known for poetry and plays, and this was his first novel.

Plot summary

The central character is a woman whose life is centred on sexual relationships. Because of its treatment of topics such as prostitution and sexually transmitted diseases, it caused great controversy in Wales, all the more so because Lewis was the son of a well-known Presbyterian minister.

Monica (actress)

Monica (born Rekha Maruthiraj) is a former Indian film actress, who starred predominantly in Tamil language films. A child actor in the early 1990s, she mostly appeared in supporting roles, before taking lead roles from the late 2000s on. She is probably best known for performances in the films Azhagi, Imsai Arasan 23m Pulikesi and Silandhi. In 2012, she changed her name to Parvana for Malayalam films. In 2014, she converted to Islam, changing her name to M. G. Rahima, and announced that she had quit acting.

On 30 May 2014, Monica converted to Islam. At a press meet, she said, "I didn’t convert for the reason of love or money, I am not such a person. I like Islamic principles, so I converted to Islam. I will intimate about my marriage to media once arranged by my parents and I really thank my dad for his full support. I was not convinced to change my name but finally, I have changed my name to M.G. Rahima (M.– Maruthi Raj (Father), G. – Gracy (Mother)). Hereafter, I won’t act in films". Monika’s father is Hindu and the mother is a Christian.

History

Monica is an ancient name of North African origin (now Algeria) whose etymology is unknown. The earliest reference to the name is found in ancient Numidian inscriptions. The name might include a reference to the ancient Libyan god Mon. Saint Augustine's mother was named Monica, and she was born in Numidia, North Africa, although she also was a citizen of Carthage, hence the possibility it may be of Punic origin. It has also been associated with the Greek word monos, meaning "alone". Monica is also a name in Latin, deriving from the verb monere, meaning 'to advise.'

Saint Monica's feast day is 27 August, and Monica is the patron saint of married women.

One of the early occurrences of the name in literature is the character Monica Thorne in the 1858 novel Doctor Thorne by Anthony Trollope.

Rocket (2015 film)

Rocket (Kannada: ರಾಕೆಟ್) is a 2015 Kannada romantic comedy film written and directed by Shiva Shashi, produced by and co-starring Sathish Ninasam, alongside Aishani Shetty in the lead roles.Achyuth Kumar, Sundar Raj, Padmaja Rao, Ninasam Ashwath and Rashri Ponnappa feature in supporting roles.

Plot

The movie is a romantic comedy. The main lead of the movie, Rakesh (Sathish Ninasam), falls in love with Shwetha (Aishani Shetty), and goes through a romantic journey. He faces a lot of hurdles in the journey and overcomes those hurdles forms the crux of the story.

The shooting of the movie commenced in December 2014 and finished in July 2015. The movie has been shot in Bangalore and some locations of Coorg.

Soundtrack

The music of the movie has been composed by Poornachandra Tejaswi of Lucia fame. The movie has five songs, one of the which has been sung by Kannada film actor Puneeth Rajkumar. Apart from known voices it also has voices from a pool of new Kannada singers.

Rock Island Rockets (1937)

The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Rockets were lightweight, streamlined diesel-electric passenger trains built by the Budd Company. These six trains were the first streamlined equipment purchased by the Rock Island, as well as being its first diesel-powered passenger trains. Four of the trains consisted of 3 cars each, the other two each had 4 cars.

The stainless steel trains were each powered by an Electro-Motive Corporation model TA locomotive. Unlike many other early streamlined trains, the locomotives were not permanently attached to the trains.

The trains were partially articulated, however the observation cars were not articulated with the rest of the trainsets.

Galactik Football

Galactik Football is a French animated television series, co-produced by Alphanim, France 2, Jetix Europe, and Welkin-Animation. Its third 26-episode season aired in Europe in June 2010.

In the universe of Galactik Football, the inhabited worlds of the Zaelion Galaxy compete in Galactik Football, a sport analogous to football, but played seven to a side. The game is complicated by the addition of Flux, which enhances a player's attributes such as speed, strength, and agility, or grants special powers such as teleportation. The story follows the fate of an inexperienced Galactik Football team, the Snow Kids, as they aim to compete in the Galactik Football Cup.

As Aarch, captain of the Akillians, takes a direct free kick, an explosion is heard and an avalanche sweeps over the stadium, marking the beginning of the Akillian Ice Age and the loss of The Breath, Akillian's Flux.
