Mohamed Hadid

Mohamed Anwar Hadid (Arabic: محمد حديد) (born 6 November 1948) is a Jordanian-American real estate developer known for building luxury hotels and mansions, primarily in the Bel Air neighborhood of the city of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills in Los Angeles County, California.

Early life

Mohamed Anwar Hadid was born in Nazareth in 1948, the son of Anwar Hadid (1908/09–1979) and his wife Khairiah.

His father, Anwar Hadid studied at a Jerusalem teachers' college and attended a university in Syria to study law, before working in land settlement for the British authorities and teaching English at a teachers' college in Mandatory Palestine. In 1948, he moved to Syria and joined the United States Information Agency and the Voice of America. He and his family lived in Damascus, Tunisia, and Greece before moving to Washington D.C., as Anwar had a job at the VOA headquarters there, when Mohamed was 14, and spent the rest of his career there with VOA and USIA as a writer, editor and translator.

Hadid

Hadid (Hebrew: חָדִיד) is a moshav in central Israel. Located near Modi'in, it falls under the jurisdiction of Hevel Modi'in Regional Council. In 2006 it had a population of 548.

Hadid was a city of the tribe of Benjamin in Biblical times. In the Hellenistic era it was known as 'Adida. Hadid was founded in 1949 as a kibbutz by Yemenite Jewish immigrants, later joined by immigrants from Rumania. In 1950, it was reorganized as a moshav affiliated with the Hapoel HaMizrachi movement. The site was about 2km west of the Palestinian village of al-Haditha and the archaeological tel of ancient Hadid.
