Mitchell College
Mitchell College is a private liberal arts college on the Thames River, in New London, Connecticut, in the United States. It was founded in 1938 on the former estate of Alfred Mitchell. In 2015 it had 778 students and faculty of 68; admission rate was 70%. Facilities include on-campus housing, a café, an ice cream shop, a preserve area known as "Mitchell Woods", playing fields, and a beach.
The college offers associate and bachelor's degrees in fourteen subjects including the behavioral sciences, business administration, criminal justice, early childhood education and sports administration.
Athletics
The college sports teams are known as the Mariners. Until the NCAA ruling on the Native American mascot controversy, they were called the Pequots.
The college competes in NCAA Division III in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, sailing, soccer and tennis for men, and basketball, cross country, sailing, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball for women.
