Mitch Melnick (born June 14, 1959) is a sports radio broadcaster in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

A 35-year veteran of radio in Montreal, Melnick is a star of Montreal’s English all sports radio station, TSN 990[1] and can be heard providing insight and analysis every weekday from 3pm-7pm as host of Melnick in the Afternoon; he also carries the Sports Director title. Melnick's show features regular appearances by Pierre McGuire, Elliotte Friedman, Ray Ferraro, Pierre LeBrun, Pat Hickey & Bill "The Spaceman" Lee.

Melnick is a strong supporter of the Montreal music & comedy scene. His show features frequent in studio appearances by many local (and international) musicians and comics. Politically he has referred to himself as a "social libertarian" while frequently jabbing at his producer Rod Francis for being a member of the federal Conservative Party.

Before signing on with The Team when the format started in May 2001, Mitch spent seven years as host of the Melnick/No limit drive home show on CIQC, which, at that time, was the longest running show on English AM radio in Montreal.

After ending his four-year TV stint as host of The Habs This Week and The Expos This Week, he contributed at CFCF-TV to the program Sports Night 360 hosted by Ron Reusch.

Mitch consistently ranks among Montreal's most popular radio hosts in the yearly Best of Montreal reader's poll conducted by the alternative weekly Mirror newspaper.

Among Mitch’s most important influences are Danny Gallivan, Bob Dylan, Lenny Bruce, Hunter S. Thompson, Bill Hicks, Howard Cosell, Ted Tevan, Joe Strummer and Elvis Costello. Music is a hobby of Mitch’s; he’s a member of BillyBob Productions (a music promotion company). Montreal-produced shows include Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Jesse Winchester, John Prine, Shawn Mullins, Chris Smither, Steve Forbert, Loudon Wainwright III, Roger McGuinn, Todd Snider, Chris Whitley & Ron Sexsmith. Melnick also produced a memorable 70th birthday bash for Bob Dylan on May 24, 2011 at Petit Campus in Montreal. He was brought up in Chomedey (Laval).[citation needed] He was born at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal.[2]

PLAYLIST TIME:

Much Too Long

by: The Sounds

I don't feel rejected but I feel neglected
you know me too well
but you keep twisting my arm
There was a time when we had everything
you know my weakness
to push me around
We need to talk, nothing to serious
I just can't keep this inside me no more.
So live hated, not much to brag about
but I have always been cool with myself
It takes more than a heartbeat to get me
to stop me I'm out in the cold
It takes more than a heartbeat to get me
You've been holding on for much too long
I got a call, nothing too serious
Don't even know you but we're keeping in touch
So I've been jealous, not much to brag about
But I've always been true to myself
It takes more than a heartbeat to get me
to stop me I'm out in the cold
It takes more than a heartbeat to get me
you've been holding on for much too long now
I don't feel rejected but I feel neglected
you know me too well
but you keep twisting my arm
There was a time when we had everything
you know my weakness
to push me around
So live hated, not much to brag about
but I have always been cool with myself
It takes more than a heartbeat to get me
to stop me I'm out in the cold
It takes more than a heartbeat to get me
You've been holding on for much too long now...much too long now...much too long now
It takes more than a heartbeat to get me
You've been holding on
For much too long
