Missouri Route 9

Route 9 is a highway in the Kansas City, Missouri area. Its northern terminus is at Interstate 29/U.S. Route 71 in Kansas City North; its southern terminus is at Interstate 35/Interstate 70/U.S. Route 24/U.S. Route 40 in downtown Kansas City. Even though both termini are in Kansas City, it passes through other towns and cities. It is carried across the Missouri River by the Heart of America Bridge between downtown Kansas City, Missouri and North Kansas City, MO. In North Kansas City, the highway serves as a main thoroughfare, Burlington Street.

History

Route 9 was created in 1922 as Route 59 and was renumbered in the early 1930s when US 59 entered Missouri.

U.S. Route 61

U.S. Route 61 (US 61) is the official designation for a United States highway that runs 1,400 miles (2,300 km) from New Orleans, Louisiana, to the city of Wyoming, Minnesota. The highway generally follows the course of the Mississippi River, and is designated the Great River Road for much of its route. As of 2004, the highway's northern terminus in Wyoming, Minnesota is at an intersection with Interstate 35 (I-35). Prior to 1991, the highway extended north on what is now Minnesota State Highway 61 (MN 61) through Duluth to the United States–Canada border near Grand Portage. Its southern terminus in New Orleans is at an intersection with Tulane Avenue at South Broad Street. The highway is often called "The Blues Highway", because of the course it takes from St. Paul to St. Louis, through Memphis, into the Mississippi Delta, and eventually ending in New Orleans.

The route was an important south-north connection in the days before the interstate highway system. Many southerners traveled north along US 61 while going to St. Louis, Missouri and Saint Paul, Minnesota. The highway was also used in the title of Minnesota native Bob Dylan's album Highway 61 Revisited, and in the song of the same name, which imagines all sorts of fantastical events (including World War III) occurring alongside US 61, and before that a blues song recorded in 1957 by Sunnyland Slim, and in 1962 by Johnny Young.

U.S. Route 59

U.S. Route 59 is a north–south United States highway (though it is signed east–west in parts of Texas). A latecomer to the U.S. numbered route system, US 59 is now a border-to-border route, part of NAFTA Corridor Highway System. It parallels U.S. Route 75 for nearly its entire route, never much more than 100 miles (160 km) away, until it veers southwest in Houston, Texas. Its number is out of place since US 59 is either concurrent with or entirely west of U.S. Route 71.

The highway's northern terminus is nine miles (14 km) north of Lancaster, Minnesota, at the Canadian border, where it continues as Manitoba Highway 59. Its southern terminus is at the Mexican border in Laredo, Texas, where it continues as Mexican Federal Highway 85D.

U.S. Highway 59 (US 59) in the U.S. state of Texas is named the Lloyd Bentsen Highway, after Lloyd Bentsen, former U.S. Senator from Texas. In northern Houston, US 59, co-signed with Interstate 69 (I-69), is the Eastex Freeway (from Downtown Houston to the Liberty County/Montgomery County line). To the south, which is also co-signed with I-69, it is the Southwest Freeway (from Rosenberg to Downtown Houston), which is one of the busiest sections of freeway in the United States with a vehicle count, as of 2006, over 330,000 vehicles per day just outside the Loop.

County Route 506 (New Jersey)

County Route 506, abbreviated CR 506, is a county highway in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The highway extends 10.74 miles (17.28 kilometers) from Oak Road (Route 159) in Fairfield to Route 7 at the Passaic River in Belleville.

Route description

CR 506 begins at an intersection with Route 159 in Fairfield Township. The route heads east-southeast as a four-lane divided highway called Bloomfield Avenue, which becomes an undivided road by the first intersection. Just after crossing the town line into West Caldwell, CR 506 becomes a divided highway again, and intersects with local roads as it passes suburban areas of homes and businesses. After the intersection with Distler Avenue, the road briefly becomes undivided. Becoming a divided highway, the route crosses over CR 613 Spur and CR 613. The divided highway ends again as CR 506 turns more to the southeast before coming to CR 633. Prior to this intersection, the road is a divided highway.

Interstate 476

Interstate 476 (I-476) is a 132.1-mile (212.59 km) auxiliary Interstate Highway in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania designated between Interstate 95 near Chester and Interstate 81 near Scranton, serving as the primary north–south Interstate corridor through eastern Pennsylvania. It consists of both the 20-mile (32.19 km) Mid-County Expressway, locally referred to as the "Blue Route" (although no signs exist with that designation), through the suburban Philadelphia-area counties of Delaware and Montgomery, and the 110.6-mile (177.99 km) Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike connecting the Philadelphia metropolitan area with the Lehigh Valley, the Poconos, and the Wyoming Valley. The Blue Route passes through suburban areas, while the Northeast Extension predominantly runs through rural areas of mountains and farmland, with development closer to Philadelphia and in the Lehigh Valley and the Wyoming Valley. I-476 intersects many major roads including Interstate 76 (the Schuylkill Expressway) in West Conshohocken, Interstate 276 (the Pennsylvania Turnpike) in Plymouth Meeting, U.S. Route 22 near Allentown, and Interstate 80 near Hickory Run State Park.

Missouri (band)

Missouri is a rock band from Kansas City, Missouri, known primarily for the song "Movin' On".

History

During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Ron West was part of a well-remembered Kansas City band, The Chesmann, with his two brothers Gary and Steve. Heavily inspired by British invasion groups, the band played both live covers and recorded original studio material. Gary West was also a member of the band Shooting Star, which scored several modest AOR hits in the late 1970 and early 1980s.

Led by Ron West, the band's self-titled first album was released in 1977 on a label called Panama Records. Even though Panama was an independent label, the band garnered substantial airplay on American FM AOR radio stations, specifically with the track "Movin On". Missouri's first gig was opening for Firefall in Emporia, Kansas. Missouri toured nationally with many major label acts such as Ted Nugent, Golden Earring, among many others.

A second album, "Welcome Two Missouri", was released on the larger and international Polydor label in 1979, including a re-recorded version of "Movin On" minus the original intro. By this time two of the original line up had dropped out. No further recordings except a repackaging of recordings from the previous albums called the best of Missouri.
