Miss You (Feeder song)

Miss You is a track by UK rock band Feeder, which was released on March 3, 2008, as a precursor to the band's upcoming full-length studio album Silent Cry. The song was made available to download for free from the band's official website and was downloaded 8000 times on its first day. It received its first radio play as part Colin Murray's Black Hole segment on BBC Radio 1, a day after its release.

The band also did a competition, asking fans to make a music video for the song. The top 3 videos would be picked by the band, and the winning entry would appear on a future single DVD, which never materialised. The song is credited to being featured on the video game Midnight Club: Los Angeles.

Miss You (Aaliyah song)

"Miss You" is a song by American recording artist Aaliyah. Written by Johnta Austin, Ginuwine and Teddy Bishop in 1998 and initially recorded in the fall of 1999 for her self-titled third studio album (2001), the track remained unreleased. Instead, it was later included on the posthumously released compilation album, I Care 4 U (2002), serving as its leading single during the last quarter of 2002.

The ballad received positive reviews from contemporary music critics and achieved a strong charting throughout Europe and other worldwide regions, reaching the top twenty in Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. On the US Billboard charts, the song peaked on top of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and reached number three on the Hot 100, becoming Aaliyah's highest-charting single after her 2000 number-one hit "Try Again" featuring Timbaland.

The music video for the song was directed by Darren Grant and featured tributes by Aaliyah's friends and collaborators, including DMX, Missy Elliott, and Static Major. It received a nomination for Best R&B Video at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. Rapper Jay-Z made a tribute to Aaliyah using the "Miss You" instrumental and chorus for its official remix version in Summer 2003.

Feeder

Feeder are a British rock band based in Newport, Wales. Feeder has released eight studio albums, three compilations, two EPs, and 34 singles. They have spent a total of 180 weeks on the singles and albums charts combined as of 2012, and have accumulated 25 top 75 singles between 1997 and 2012.

Feeder's music has been inspired by a wide variety of artists and styles, including The Police, Nirvana, and The Smashing Pumpkins. Their early material showcased a heavy rock sound reminiscent of grunge, but the band would later introduce more acoustic aspects into their music, including elements of pianos and string orchestras.

The band was formed in 1992 under the name of "Reel" by vocalist and guitarist Grant Nicholas, drummer Jon Lee and bassist Simon Blight, three of the four members of Raindancer, after the departure of that band's other member, guitarist John Canham. However, Blight left Reel later in 1992, and the band played with many session bassists before hiring Taka Hirose in 1995, a year after the band signed with The Echo Label.

Fat fetishism

Fat fetishism is sexual attraction to overweight or obese people.

A variety of fat fetishism is feederism or gaining, where sexual gratification is obtained not from the fat itself but from the process of gaining, or helping others gain, body fat. Fat fetishism also incorporates stuffing and padding, whereas the focus of arousal is on the sensations and properties of a real or simulated gain.

Attraction

A 2009 study found that heterosexual male fat admirers preferred females that were clinically overweight and rated both overweight and obese women more positively than slighter individuals. The study also found that participants reacted positively to a much wider range of figures than a control group, even rating emaciated figures higher. It concludes "these findings suggest that an explanation for fat admiration may be that FAs are rejecting sociocultural norms of attractiveness". Additionally, this movement is well known for its Internet popularity where a majority of "gainers" and fat-admirers communicate and display their progress in weight-gaining. Namely, Youtube accounts such as Gluttonous Slob, Glutton Slob, and Glutton Manners-all of which are managed by a self-proclaimed, yet unnamed, "gainer" native to Detroit, Michigan-have attracted the attention of "gaining" supporters worldwide for their video content depicting channel's apparent scantily-clad administrator consuming large amounts of food.

Riser (casting)

A riser, also known as a feeder, is a reservoir built into a metal casting mold to prevent cavities due to shrinkage. Most metals are less dense as a liquid than as a solid so castings shrink upon cooling, which can leave a void at the last point to solidify. Risers prevent this by providing molten metal to the casting as it solidifies, so that the cavity forms in the riser and not the casting. Risers are not effective on materials that have a large freezing range, because directional solidification is not possible. They are also not needed for casting processes that utilized pressure to fill the mold cavity. A feeder operated by a treadle is called an underfeeder.

The activity of planning of how a casting will be gated and risered is called foundry methoding or foundry engineering.

Theory

Risers are only effective if three conditions are met: the riser cools after the casting, the riser has enough material to compensate for the casting shrinkage, and the casting directionally solidifies towards the riser.
