    Misfit (song)

"Misfit" is the second single from UK singer Amy Studt. Released on 9 June 2003, the single reached a peak of #6 in the charts and is Studt's most successful single to date. It was also the most successful single internationally. It is taken from her debut album, False Smiles. The song is criticizing those who conform, labelling them superficial and saying it is all right to be a misfit. It is included on Now 55 in the UK.

  • "Misfit"
  • "Queen A"
  • "Put Your Faith in Me"
  • "Misfit" (video)
  • Video

The video was directed by Sophie Muller, who directed the video for her last single Just a Little Girl. In it Amy is walking to school, and she gets tripped up and pushed around when she gets in. She flees to the bathroom, and then imagines herself performing. Then she is shown in a dormitory with her in a nightdress. All the girls are crowding around her, and she doesn't seem to like it so she climbs on top of a cupboard. She is then shown dancing with some other girls imagining herself to be like everybody else, which clearly displeases her. Then she proceeds to dance by herself in her own unique way, until some people in suits drive up to the school, presumably talent scouts, see her and start shooting pictures with her, and the other girls are seen to be crying. At the end she is seen back on top of the cupboard smiling.

    Misfit (short story)

"Misfit" is a science fiction short story by Robert A. Heinlein. It was originally titled Cosmic Construction Corps before being renamed by the editor John W. Campbell. The short was first published in the November 1939 issue of Astounding Science Fiction. One of the earliest of his Future History stories, it was later included in the collections Revolt in 2100 and The Past Through Tomorrow.

    Plot summary

The story concerns Andrew Jackson Libby (here nicknamed Pinky, for his red hair, but later nicknamed Slipstick), a boy from Earth with extraordinary mathematical ability but meager education. Finding few opportunities on Earth, he joins the Cosmic Construction Corps, a future military-led version of the Civilian Conservation Corps employing out-of-work youth to colonize the Solar System. With a group of other inexperienced young men he is assigned to a ship traveling to the asteroid belt where their task is to move an asteroid into a more convenient orbit between Mars and Earth. Pinky comes to the Captain's attention during the process of blasting holes in the asteroid for rocket engines when Pinky realizes that a mistake has been made in calculating the size of the charge, preventing a catastrophic blast. He is assigned to the ship's astrogation computer. During the trip back to Earth the computer malfunctions and Libby takes over, performing all the complex calculations in his head. The asteroid is settled successfully into its final orbit.

    Proposed top-level domain

The Domain Name System of the Internet consists of a set of top-level domains which constitute the root domain of the hierarchical name space and database. In the growth of the Internet, it became desirable to expand the set of initially six generic top-level domains in 1984. As a result new top-level domain names have been proposed for implementation by ICANN. Such proposals included a variety of models ranging from adoption of policies for unrestricted gTLDs that could be registered by anyone for any purpose, to chartered gTLDs for specialized uses by specialized organizations. In October 2000, ICANN published a list of proposals for top-level domain strings it had received.

    Geographic proposals

  • .geo - Generic geographical locations.
  • .wien - Vienna.
  • .lat - General category for Latin American websites.
  • .africa - General category for African websites.
  • .ln and .le - Currently being sold by Dennis Hope's "Lunar Embassy Commission" alongside .lunar, .moon, .venus, .mars, .jupiter, .saturn, .uranus, .neptune, .pluto, .space. People who purchase novelty deeds for outer space property from him are also given free domains. None of these TLDs are supported at present by root servers.
  • Goat

The domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a subspecies of goat domesticated from the wild goat of southwest Asia and Eastern Europe.

The goat is a member of the family Bovidae and is closely related to the sheep as both are in the goat-antelope subfamily Caprinae. There are over 300 distinct breeds of goat. Goats are one of the oldest domesticated species, and have been used for their milk, meat, hair, and skins over much of the world. In 2011, there were more than 924 million live goats around the globe, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization.

Female goats are referred to as "does" or "nannies", intact males as "bucks", "billies", or "rams" and their offspring are "kids". Castrated males are "wethers". Goat meat from younger animals is called "kid" or cabrito (Spanish), and from older animals is simply known as "goat" or sometimes called chevon (French), or in some areas "mutton" (which more often refers to adult sheep meat).

    Etymology

The Modern English word goat comes from Old English gāt "she-goat, goat in general", which in turn derives from Proto-Germanic *gaitaz (cf. Dutch/Icelandic geit, German Geiß, and Gothic gaits), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰaidos meaning "young goat" (cf. Latin haedus "kid"), itself perhaps from a root meaning "jump" (assuming that Old Church Slavonic zajęcǐ "hare", Sanskrit jihīte "he moves" are related). To refer to the male, Old English used bucca (giving modern buck) until ousted by hegote, hegoote in the late 12th century. Nanny goat (females) originated in the 18th century and billy goat (for males) in the 19th.

    Kid (film)

Kid is a 2012 drama film. It was written and directed by Fien Troch, produced by Antonino Lombardo, and starred Bent Simons, Gabriela Carrizo and Maarten Meeusen.

The film tells the story of Kid, a seven-year-old boy who lives with his mother and his older brother Billy on a farm outside a small town. Abandoned by their father, they have had to fend for themselves. Their finances are in ruins and the two boys have to move with their uncle and aunt.

Kid had its world premiere on October 12, 2012 at the Flanders International Film Festival Ghent. It has received high praise from film critics and won various awards from numerous film organizations and festivals. Kid received the André Cavens Award for Best Film by the Belgian Film Critics Association (UCC). The film had its North American premiere at the AFI Fest on November 2, 2012. It received three nominations at the 4th Magritte Awards, winning Best Flemish Film in Coproduction.

I dream frequently, sometimes they come out funny
I go through insantity, all they want is money
all these parties they get so habitual
    the same sea of faces
    always pushin', always pullin'
    always in the races
    I get cooled out
    I get the come ons
    I get rumbled
    I get cru-u-umbled, yeah

I'm still wonderin' what I did
I'm stiletto, so so sharp and I'm willin' to cut
sometimes nebulous, well I'm ready to strut
lost and frantic, new age romantic
    I'm checkin' out the race
I never cared about what it meant
    always loved disgrace
    I get rhythm
    I get cornflakes
    I get fast love
    I get wasted, yeah
    I'm the American misfit kid
    still wonderin' what I did
I'm on the inside, takin' a fast ride
