"Fire" is a single released by Jamaican recording artist Tessanne Chin under Justice League Music on May 5, 2015. "Fire" is Chin's first single released under Justice League Music.
On April 30, 2015, Tessanne shared on her Facebook page that she would be releasing the background song which was featured in her clear scalp and hair commercial. It was co-written by Balewa Muhammad and produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. She described the song as "A soulful power anthem and a reminder to never sell yourself short."
Billboard described the song as a 1970s with her throwback track, a classic-sounding R&B tune that showcases her undeniable voice.
In an interview with Billboard, Chin stated "The whole experience of creating and writing this song was just so organic and real". Chin continues, "It took me back to the music and an era that I absolutely love and respect." She also stated her favorite parts of writing and recording "Fire". "We were all in a live room clapping and stomping our heels around a mic to the beat to add that extra bit of realness to it," she says. "It was so much fun."
"Fire" is a hit song by R&B/funk band Ohio Players. The song was the opening track from the album of the same name and hit #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 (where it was succeeded by Linda Ronstadt's "You're No Good") and the Hot Soul Singles chart in early 1975. It spent five weeks atop the soul chart. "Fire" was the Ohio Players' only entry on the new disco/dance chart, where it peaked at #10. The tune is considered to be the band's signature song along with "Love Rollercoaster."
The song was recorded at Mercury Records' Chicago-based studio. While performing it in California, the band let Stevie Wonder hear the basic track for the song and he predicted that it would become a big hit. The song is noted for its sound of a siren recorded from a fire truck, heard at the beginning, as well as in the instrumental break in the middle. The edit version avoided much of the repetition of the music.
A cover of the song was released by Canadian New Wave band Platinum Blonde on their third album Contact in 1987. Another cover, also from 1987, is featured on the album Rhythm Killers by Sly and Robbie, produced by Bill Laswell. For their 2014 album For the Love of Money, industrial hip hop outfit Tackhead covered the song.
Iron, when used metaphorically, refers to certain traits of the metal iron. Used as an adjective and sometimes as a noun, it refers to something stern, harsh, unyielding, inflexible, rigid, sturdy, strong, robust. It is sometimes used for something technological (iron lung) or not technologically advanced (iron bomb).
This list is categorized superficially, rather than by the actual meanings of the expressions, to stress the metaphorical usage.
Iron has a long and varied tradition in the mythology and folklore of the world. As human blood smells of the iron which its cells contain, and blood in many traditions is equated with the life-force, so iron and minerals have been considered to be the blood or life-force of the Earth. This relationship is charted further in literature on geomancy, ley lines and songlines.
In Plutarch's mystical writings, iron and lodestone is referred to as the "bone" or "core" of the gods. Symbolically, iron is the bone, the foundation or the mineral core of both blood and red ochre.
Cold iron is a poetic and archaic term for iron.
Francis Grose's 1811 Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue defines cold iron as "A sword, or any other weapon for cutting or stabbing." This usage often appears as "cold steel" in modern parlance.
Rudyard Kipling's poem "Cold Iron", found in his 1910 collection of stories Rewards and Fairies, used the term poetically to mean "weapon".
"Cold iron" is historically believed to repel, contain, or harm ghosts, fairies, witches, and/or other malevolent supernatural creatures. This belief continued into later superstitions in a number of forms:
A safety curtain (or fire curtain in America) is a fire safety precaution used in large proscenium theatres. It is usually a heavy fibreglass or iron curtain located immediately behind the proscenium arch. Asbestos-based materials were originally used to manufacture the curtain, before the dangers of asbestos were discovered. The safety curtain is sometimes referred to as an iron in British theatres, regardless of the actual construction material.
Occupational safety and health regulations state that the safety curtain must be able to resist fire and thereby prevent (or at least hinder) fires starting on stage from spreading to the auditorium and the rest of the theatre, reducing injuries to audience members and members of staff.
The curtain is extremely heavy and therefore requires its own dedicated operating mechanisms. In an emergency, the stage manager can usually pull a lever backstage which will cause the curtain to fall rapidly into position. Alternatively, heat-sensitive components can be built into the rigging to automatically close this curtain in case of fire. Finally, it may be released electronically by a building's fire control system if any alarm box is operated. It can also be flown in and out, as regulations in some jurisdictions state that it must be shown to the audience, to prove its effective operation, for a certain amount of time during every performance. This usually occurs during the intermission.
"Miracle" is a song by the band Nonpoint, released as the first single from their sixth studio album, Miracle. The song was released to alternative and active rock radio stations on February 15, 2010. It was also made available for download on iTunes and other online music retailers on March 30. It features Chad Gray of Mudvayne fame contributing vocals during the song's chorus.
Elias Soriano explained the meaning of the song saying "I wrote this song as a gigantic 'Fuck You' to all those that doubted this band's will and perseverance. It's for all the naysayers that tried to lead us into defeat, and the fans that have stood behind us for over ten years. It set the tone for the whole record. We're here to wage war on the airwaves, and to stop us is going to take a fucking miracle."
The song video was directed by Dale "Rage" Resteghini, whose credits include videos for Anthrax, Fall Out Boy, Lil Wayne, The Game, Busta Rhymes, Soulja Boy, and many others. Rage says, "Elias Soriano and I have known each other for a number of years but never had the chance to work together. When he sent me 'Miracle', I was blown away as I think this is one of, if not the best song Nonpoint has ever recorded.
Miracle is the eleventh studio album by the Christian rock band Third Day. This album released on Essential Records label, and it was produced by Brendan O'Brien. The album sold 29,000 copies in its debut week. The lead single from this album is "I Need a Miracle", which has had chart success.
Rising up from the ashes
The ashes of the past
Out of a fairytale he comes
The Prince of Darkness
He has returned
to make all your wishes come true
He's watching you everywhere you go
The master from deep below
Prince of Agony
Coming from the underworld
Prince of Agony
Possessing your soul
Prince of Agony
In your darkest dream
Prince of Agony
He will make you scream
Collecting souls
in a magic stone
Cause he holds the power of the world
So be aware
the black sorcerer
He's waiting for you in the shadows
He's watching you everywhere you go
The master from deep below
Prince of Agony
Coming from the underworld
Prince of Agony
Possessing your soul
Prince of Agony
In your darkest dream
Prince of Agony
He will make you scream
He's watching you everywhere you go
The master from deep below
Prince of Agony
Coming from the underworld
Prince of Agony
Possessing your soul
Prince of Agony
In your darkest dream
Prince of Agony
He will make you scream
On The Edge
I've got a monkey on my back
and my soul feels like a wreck
Screaming voices in my head
Sometimes I wish that I was dead
Flying so high
into a toxic sky
On a trip to Hell
To the sound of the judgement bell
Still on the edge
of another breakdown
Alone in the dark
I'm lost in a dream
Still on the edge
of another shakedown
Facing destruction
with one foot in the grave
With a blade against my wrist
In this world that makes me so pissed
I was a master, I was a king
Now my angel's got a broken wing
Flying so high
into a toxic sky
On a trip to Hell
To the sound of the judgement bell
Still on the edge
of another breakdown
Alone in the dark
I'm lost in a dream
Still on the edge
of another shakedown
Facing destruction
with one foot in the grave
Still on the edge
of another breakdown
Alone in the dark
I'm lost in a dream
Still on the edge
of another shakedown
Facing destruction
