Mike Turner

Michael R. "Mike" Turner (born January 11, 1960) is the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 10th congressional district, serving in Congress since 2003. He is a member of the Republican Party.

The district, numbered as the 3rd District from 2003 to 2013, is based in Dayton and consists of Montgomery, Greene and Fayette counties.

Early life, education and career

Turner, a non-denominational Protestant Christian, was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1960 to Vivian and Ray Turner. His mother was a teacher in the Wayne School system in Huber Heights and his father worked as a member of IUE Local 801 for 42 years after serving in the military. Turner was raised in East Dayton and has one sister.

Turner graduated from Belmont High School in 1978 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the Ohio Northern University in 1982, a Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University in 1985, and an MBA from the University of Dayton in 1992. He practiced law with local firms and businesses in the Dayton area before entering politics. He also practiced law during the brief time between his service as Mayor of Dayton and as a Member of Congress.

Mike Turner (cricketer)

Francis Michael ("Mike") Turner MBE (8 August 1934 – 21 July 2015) was an English cricketer active from 1954 to 1959 who played for Leicestershire. He appeared in ten first-class matches as a right-handed batsman who bowled leg break and googly. He scored 196 runs with a highest score of 28* and took three wickets with a best performance of three for 56. Turner remained in cricket and worked for Leicestershire in administration. The club awarded him a benefit season in 1985. In 1994 he was awarded the MBE for services to cricket.

Mike Turner (footballer)

Michael George Elliott Turner (born 20 September 1938 in Bridport, Dorset) is an English former professional football goalkeeper.

Football career

He was capped by England at youth level, but due to service in the RAF had to wait until December 1961 to turn professional when he joined Swindon Town from non-league Dorchester Town. He played 75 league games for Swindon and was part of Swindon's first ever promotion winning team in the 1962-63 season, before joining Torquay United in July 1964. He played 14 league games for Torquay over the next 2 seasons, before leaving the professional game.

He subsequently returned to Dorset, working for Plesseys for 20 years before retiring (in October 2006 he was living in Poole).

Michael A. "Mike" Turner (born June 5, 1963) is an English-born Canadian musician and producer. He is the former lead guitarist of the band Our Lady Peace. After his departure from OLP he began producing music and played guitar in the Canadian band Fair Ground, with Harem Scarem guitarist Pete Lesperance, In 2008 he joined a sort of Canadian super group called Crash Karma composed of Edwin, former lead singer of I Mother Earth; Jeff Burrows, former drummer for the Tea Party; and Amir Epstein, former bassist for Zygote. The band released a self-titled album on March 16, 2010.

Biography

Born on June 5, 1963, in Halifax, England, Turner grew up heavily influenced by punk rock. His first guitar was a gift from his mother on his seventeenth birthday. He played in a variety of bands during the 1980s.

Turner moved to Ontario, Canada at the age of eighteen. He studied English literature at the University of Western Ontario. He lived in Saugeen-Maitland Hall at the University of Western Ontario along with fellow Our Lady Peace band member Duncan Coutts.

Mike Turner (born March 17, 1987) is a Republican politician from the U.S. state of Oklahoma. He currently serves in the Oklahoma House of Representatives as vice chair of the Government Modernization Committee and the representative for House District 82.

Elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2013, Turner filed to run for the U.S. Congress seat vacated by Congressman Lankford.

Early life and career

Turner grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Political career

Turner was elected to his first term after defeating a four-time incumbent with 55.79 percent of the vote in a Republican party primary.

In June of 2014, after receiving criticism on two bills (SB 1456 and HB 2466), Turner lost in the Republican primary race significantly, despite outspending the competition. Previous to SB 1456, he was thought to be 'squarely' in the race. He did not accept any outside political contributions, but instead used a trust fund and/or family funds to finance the campaign.
