Middle Men (film)

Middle Men is a 2009 comedy-drama film directed by George Gallo and written by Gallo and Andy Weiss. It stars Luke Wilson, Giovanni Ribisi, Gabriel Macht and James Caan. The movie is based on the experiences of Christopher Mallick who was previously associated with the internet billing companies Paycom and ePassporte. Christopher Mallick has been accused of stealing millions of dollars from his customers at ePassporte to fund the creation of the film.

Plot

It is 2004 in Houston, Jack Harris drives off from his home with several million dollars in a duffel bag. He is on his way to deliver the money to Russian mobsters, worried about the safety of his wife Diana and their children.

Flashback to 1997 in Los Angeles. Jack flies to LA for a few weeks to help a sick friend co-managing a nightclub. Elsewhere in LA, Wayne Beering and Buck Dolby are best friends renting together.

The drug-addicted friends are watching porn movie reels when Wayne asks why there is no porn on the internet. Buck, a former NASA scientist, takes 15 minutes to create a program to allow online credit card transactions to charge people for looking at porn pictures on their website. They earn thousands of dollars in a matter of days. Needing more porn content they approach Nikita Sokoloff, a Russian mob boss who owns a local strip club, who agrees to 25% of their business in return for letting them photograph and film his strippers.

Men of Twilight

In the fiction of J. R. R. Tolkien, Men of Twilight was a term used by the Númenóreans for Men of Middle-earth who were related to the Edain, the ancestors of the Númenóreans themselves. This contrasts with the Gondorians, "Men of Light", and the Haradrim and Easterlings, "Men of Darkness").

In The Two Towers Chapter 5 The Window on the West the Men of Twilight are also called Middle Men: "We are become Middle Men, of the Twilight, but with memory of other things."

When the Númenóreans returned to the coasts of Middle-earth in the Second Age, they found a people who spoke languages which were distantly related to the Númenórean tongue, Adûnaic. Númenórean scholars declared that this was because these Men were descendants of the fathers of the Edain, the Atanatári, who had not crossed the Ered Luin and entered Beleriand during the First Age. The Númenóreans set up friendly relations with them, and declared them to be Middle Men, as opposed to the High Men (the Edain) or the Men of the Shadow, meaning those hostile to Númenor or in the service of Sauron.
