Metz (company)

Metz-Werke GmbH & Co. KG was a German consumer electronic manufacturer, Besides Loewe and TechniSat, Metz was the only remaining TV manufacturer which developed and produced their devices in Germany. Its head office is in Zirndorf, Bavaria. The company filed for insolvency in 2014 and backed up by new investors now refirms as two independent companies Metz Consumer Electronics GmbH and Metz mecatech GmbH since 2015.

Metz Company

The Metz Company was a pioneer brass era automobile maker established by Charles Herman Metz in Waltham, Massachusetts, from ca.1908 to 1922.

History

C.H. Metz began in business in 1886 making bicycle parts, and in 1893 formed the Waltham Manufacturing Company with Herbert L. Thompson, Elmer G. Howe and Frank L. Howe. Later the firm developed designs for motorized vehicles.

Model 22

Claiming to be "winner of the Glidden Tour", the 1914 Model 22 was a two-seat roadster or torpedo. It had a 22½ hp (17 kW) four-cylinder water-cooled engine with Bosch magneto, full-elliptic springs front and rear. It ran on artillery wheels with Goodrich clincher tires, and featured a Prest-O-Lite-type acetylene generator for the headlights. It was billed as "gearless", having a friction drive mechanism, and priced at $475; by contrast, the Success was an uncommonly low US$250, the Black started at $375, the Brush Runabout was US$485Western's Gale Model A was US$500, and even the high-volume Oldsmobile Runabout ten years earlier was US$650.

Metz

Metz (French pronunciation: [mɛs]; German pronunciation: [mɛts]) is a city in northeast France located at the confluence of the Moselle and the Seille rivers. Metz is the prefecture of the Moselle department and the seat of the parliament of the Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine region. Located near the tripoint along the junction of France, Germany, and Luxembourg, the city forms a central place of the European Greater Region and the SaarLorLux euroregion.

Metz is home to some world-class venues including the Arsenal Concert Hall and the Centre Pompidou-Metz museum.

Metz was promoted with the "Freelance Scientist" advert starring Julian Barratt as a scientist explaining that Metz caused 'Judders' as well as the "Forrest" advert directed by Enda McCallion and featuring the Judderman.

Judderman

The Judderman is the central character in "Forrest", an advert for Metz. An elf/Jack Frost-like creature, the Judderman waylays innocent travellers and tempts them to taste the alcohol, at which they 'judder' due to its being served cold. The advert was known for scaring children and was voted as the scariest advert of all time. There is no information of who plays the two characters in the advert except the Judderman was played by a 6ft4 ballet dancer. There were also an additional two adverts which promoted the Storm brand and Still Metz and Black Metz as well as another commercial where the Judderman puppet is disguised as an old woman and asks "Who will buy my lovely Metz? Who will buy?".
