Betty (band)

BETTY is an alternative rock group from New York City. The group originated in Washington, D.C. and traces its lineage to a birthday party for Dodie Bowers (the original owner of the 9:30 Club). The band's harmonies and unique lyrics attracted a cult following in the vibrant alternative music scene and among gay/lesbian audiences. A "BETTY Rules" t-shirt, an early marketing item of the band, appears on one of the AIDS quilts.

The band achieved notoriety by making their first major gig as a band an 'autobiographical' two-act musical at the legendary DC Space in February 1987. Entitled "BETTY:Inside Out", the show established the tongue-in-cheek personas of the band that follow them to present day: the ego of egomaniacal diva Amy, the id of shame-free rebel, Elizabeth and the superego of calm superhero, Alyson. The wild success of that sold-out run led to appearances at Howie Montaug's Danceteria and the ultra-hot clubs and lounges of the late 1980s' scene in New York City.

Betty (singer)

Elizabeth Danielyan (Armenian: Էլիզաբեթ Դանիելյան, born 7 March 2003), better known as simply Betty (Armenian: Բեթթի), is an Armenian child singer. She represented Armenia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Malta with her song "People of the Sun".

Besides her native Armenian, Betty also speaks Russian and a bit of English.

Early life

Elizabeth Danielyan was born on March 7, 2003. Her birth was the greatest gift for her mother on women’s international day. Being an active and musical child, she has been attending State Chorographical School since the age of 4 and simultaneously attended college. She has been going to School N.8 named after A.Pushkin since the age of 6 where she has had excellent progress up to present days. Today, Little Elizabeth is 11 years old. She has attended to professional singing classes, individual dancing classes. Betty is author of many songs and poems, she is also attending for guitar lessons. Simultaneously, Elizabeth attends the National Aesthetical Centre named after Henrik Igityan. She studies embroidery, origami and drawing, pottery.

Betty Cooper

Elizabeth "Betty" Cooper is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Archie Comics. The character was created by Bob Montana, and first appeared in Pep Comics #22 (December 1941), on the first page of the first Archie story, serving as a love interest to Archie Andrews. Betty's infatuation with Archie making her strive for his attention using whatever means possible has been one of the longest running themes in the comics. In 2011, Betty Cooper was ranked 66th in Comics Buyer's Guide's "100 Sexiest Women in Comics" list.

Character and publication history

Creation

Betty was named for, and originally based on, Betty Tokar Jankovich, a Czech immigrant who briefly dated Archie creator Bob Montana in 1939 when she was 18. She is portrayed as a nice, beautiful, smart, sweet, tomboyish and funny girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was created to serve as a love interest for Archie Andrews.

History

Betty Cooper is the daughter of Hal Cooper and Alice Cooper. Her older brother Chic Cooper and older sister Polly Cooper have both moved out of Riverdale, their hometown. Chic moved to New York City and Polly to San Francisco, but both occasionally appear in flashbacks to Betty's childhood, and both occasionally visit their family. The quintessential 17-year-old girl next door, Betty's middle class upbringing is a world apart from the flashy lifestyle of her wealthy friend and rival, Veronica Lodge. Nowhere is this more evident than when she and Veronica are competing for Archie Andrews' heart, and yet they remain best friends (Veronica once told Archie that she and Betty are only rivals in unimportant matters, like boys.)

Once Upon a Time... Space

Il était une fois… l'Espace (English: Once Upon a Time… Space) is a French/Japanese animated science fiction TV series from 1982, directed by Albert Barillé.

The series was animated in Japan by the animation studio Eiken, and is thus considered to be anime as it also aired on Japanese TV, albeit not until 1984, under the title Ginga Patrol PJ (銀河パトロールPJ, Galaxy Patrol PJ). In contrast to the show's success in the West, the series' Japanese broadcast was consigned to an early-morning time slot and attracted little attention.

Synopsis

Once Upon a Time... Space differs from the rest of the Once Upon a Time titles in the sense that the series revolve on a dramatic content rather than an educational premise. The series still has a handful of educational information (such as an episode discussing the rings of the planet Saturn).

The series succeeds Once Upon a Time... Man. It reprises almost all of the characters from the previous series and adapts them into a science-fiction context.

Metro (magazine)

Metro is a glossy monthly lifestyle magazine published in New Zealand. It has a strong focus on the city of Auckland, with reportage of issues and society. The magazine was first published independently by Warwick Roger and Bruce Palmer.

History

Metro was established in 1981. The debut of the magazine coincided with the rapid expansion of the New Zealand economy that occurred from 1984, following the election of the Fourth Labour Government, who implemented widespread neoliberal deregulation and economic reform. The increased access to imported luxury goods made Metro magazine an attractive media environment for advertisers.

Metro magazine's success led to the launch of a sister title North & South, edited by Robyn Langwell. This publication took a wider look at New Zealand regional stories. Langwell was editor of North & South until June 2007. A third title, women's interest magazine More, was launched before the stable was bought by ACP Media, an Australian publishing consortium.

Metro (Oregon regional government)

Metro is the regional government for the Oregon portion of the Portland metropolitan area. It is the only directly elected regional government and metropolitan planning organization in the United States. Metro is responsible for managing the Portland region's solid waste system, coordinating the growth of the cities in the region, managing a regional parks and natural areas system, and overseeing the Oregon Zoo, Oregon Convention Center, Portland's Centers for the Arts, and the Portland Expo Center.

History and evolution

Metro in its current form evolved from Columbia Region Association of Governments (CRAG) (1966–1978) and a predecessor Metropolitan Service District (MSD) (1957–1966). Measure 6, a 1978 statewide ballot measure established Metro, effective January 1, 1979. In 1992 voters approved a home-rule charter that identified Metro's primary mission as planning and policy making to preserve and enhance the quality of life and the environment, and changed the agency's name to Metro. This charter was amended in November 2000 when Ballot Measure 26-10 was passed by voters, although the principal changes did not take effect until January 2003. The measure eliminated the Executive Office and reorganized executive staff. The position of Executive Officer, elected by voters, was merged with that of council presiding officer, chosen annually by fellow Metro councilors, creating the position of Metro council president. Metro's first president was David Bragdon, who served in the office from January 2003 until September 2010.
