Dvar

Dvar is a virtual band from Moscow, Russia that plays darkwave music, though their more recent releases have been coined as Lightwave, for a lack of an existing genre to file their unique sound under.

History

The members of Dvar have kept their identities secret, so little is known of their formation. In an interview they stated that "Dvar is something that came in a dream". Band members claim to have heard music in their dreams. The music was presented to them by a creature named Dvar, which took the shape of a giant bee. All of the band's music is devoted to Dvar and directly inspired by him. The members of the band do not claim to write the music themselves (which comes from Dvar), but to serve as messengers. Lyrics, according to them, are performed in the Enochian language.

Taho

Taho (Tagalog: [tɐˈhoʔ]) (Chinese: 豆花; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: tāu-hoe) is a Philippine snack food made of fresh soft/silken tofu, arnibal (sweetener and flavoring), and sago pearl (similar to tapioca pearls). This staple comfort food is a signature sweet and taho peddlers can be found all over the country. The Indonesian and Malaysian equivalent of this snack is tauhue.

History

Through early records, it is evident that taho traces its origin to the Chinese douhua. Prior to the Spanish Colonization, Chinese were common traders with the native Malays, influencing Philippine cuisine.

Processing and preparation

Most taho vendors prepare the separate ingredients before dawn. The main ingredient, fresh soft/silken tofu, is processed to a consistency that is very similar to a very fine custard. The brown sugar is heated, caramelized and mixed with water to create a viscous amber-colored syrup called arnibal. Flavors, like vanilla are sometimes added to the arnibal. Sago pearls, purchased from the local market, are boiled to a gummy consistency until they are a translucent white.

The Cairo–Dakar Highway is Trans-African Highway 1 in the transcontinental road network being developed by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the African Development Bank (ADB), and the African Union. The major part of the highway between Tripoli and Nouakchott has been constructed under a project of the Arab Maghreb Union.

The Cairo–Dakar Highway has a length of 8,636 kilometres (5,366 mi) and runs along the Mediterranean coast of North Africa, continuing down the Atlantic coast of North-West Africa. It is substantially complete except for a few kilometres on the Morocco-Mauritania border where there is currently only a desert track. The Noudhibou-Nouakchott section was paved in 2005 fr:Transport en Mauritanie. It joins with the Dakar-Lagos Highway to form a north-south route between Rabat and Monrovia across the Sahara and around the western extremity of the continent.
