Mera Naseeb

Mera Naseeb (Urdu: ميرا نصيب, English: My Fate‎) is a Hum TV drama which aired from 1 April 2011 to 26 August 2011. The drama featured a huge ensemble star cast including Samina Peerzada, Sakina Samoo, Rubina Ashraf, Bushra Ansari, Shagufta Ejaz, Durdana Butt, Sajid Hassan, Adeel Hussain, Imran Abbas, Imran Aslam, Syra Yousuf, Sanam Saeed, Rehan Sheikh, Ali Afzal and Sabahat Bukhari. The show will soon air in India on channel Zee Zindagi. Indian-American author Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni has accused the writers of the show of plagiarizing her novel Sister of My Heart for the story of the serial. She has also threatened to take legal action against the writers of the show. However the screenplay writer had mentioned earlier before the show's original run that it is a drama adaptation of a story provided to them. Only recently it was mentioned the screenplay writers had no prior knowledge a plagiarized work was being provided to them to work with.

Naseeb (Hindi: नसीब, English: Destiny) is a 1981 Bollywood action comedy film produced and directed by Manmohan Desai. The film is a typical Manmohan Desai film with his regular star Amitabh Bachchan and a large cast, lavish sets, memorable music and the lost and found theme. The film also stars Hema Malini, Rishi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Reena Roy, Kim, Pran, Kader Khan, Amjad Khan, Prem Chopra, Shakti Kapoor, Amrish Puri and Yusuf Khan. The music is by the Manmohan Desai regulars Laxmikant Pyarelal.

The film was among those rare movies, which crossed 1 Crore per territory. There were only 13 All Time Earner[Crossed 1 Crore per territory] movies until 1984, 9 of which starred Bachchan himself and Naseeb was one of them.

The film was later remade in Tamil as Sandhippu (1983) with Sivaji Ganesan and Prabhu Ganesan and in Telugu as Trimurtulu (1987) with Daggubati Venkatesh.

Synopsis

Naseeb, a story of destiny and fate, begins with a lottery ticket. A drunk who cannot pay his tab trades: so he decides to sell his ticket to the waiter, Namdev (Pran), instead. Namdev purchases this ticket with his three friends Damu (Amjad Khan), Raghu (Kader Khan) and Jaggi (Jagdish Raj). Using a system of drawing out the highest card to decide who keeps the ticket, Jaggi wins, and the ticket stays with him. When the ticket turns out to be a winner, Damu and Raghu turn on the other two, murdering Jaggi and framing Namdev. Namdev goes on the run but Raghu and Damu intervene and throw him over a bridge into a river and Namdev is presumed dead.

Mera is a fictional undersea queen that appears in comic books published by DC Comics. She first appeared in Aquaman #11 (September 1963), and was created by Jack Miller and Nick Cardy. Mera was ranked 81st in Comics Buyer's Guide's "100 Sexiest Women in Comics" list.

Publication history

Mera's Silver Age debut in Aquaman #11 set her place of origin as the mysterious "Dimension Aqua". However, during the Brightest Day crossover, Dimension Aqua was revealed to be the extradimensional penal colony known formally as Xebel, a place of exile for an ancient faction of Atlantean people, banished along with their descendants after one of the many civil wars of the submerged Atlantis.

Fictional character biography

Mera is the former Queen of Dimension Aqua (Xebel), Queen of Atlantis, and wife of DC Comics superhero Aquaman. Mera also has a twin sister named Hila.

In her first chronological appearance, Mera is shown to be fleeing the criminal Leron, who seized control of her kingdom, when she arrives on Earth and meets Aquaman and Aqualad, who vow to help her. Leron captures them, imprisoning Aquaman and Mera in Dimension Aqua. Aided by the water spirit known as Quisp, Aquaman manages to free Mera and defeats Leron. Mera abdicates the throne of Xebel to Queen V'lana, and returns to Atlantis to marry Aquaman. Soon after, they had a son named Arthur Curry, Jr., also known as Aquababy.
